On Friday, April 14, the regional stage of the All-Russian Employment Fair, Work in Russia. A Time of Opportunity, started in Saratov. The fair was held on April 14 and 15 at five regional venues in Saratov, Balakovo, Volsk, Petrovsk, and Engels.
The main centre of the event was the Saratov College of Architecture and Civil Engineering. More than 30 industrial and manufacturing enterprises offer about 2.5 thousand vacancies in demand on the labour market. The participants of the fair were residents of the region, job seekers, students and students of about 20 educational institutions of the region.
At the opening of the fair, Saratov State University was represented by Vice-Rector for Secondary Vocational Education and Social Work Olga Nesterova, Head of the Office of Social Work Natalia Sergeyeva, employees of the Centre for Professional Development and Business Strategies, the Institute of Continuing Professional Education, SSU, and the Regional Centre of Graduate Employment and Labour Market Adaptation. At the interactive stand of the university, everyone could find information about employment, retraining and additional education, get a brochure with training directions and available vacancies.
Sergey Yegorov, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Saratov Region, addressed the participants of the event. ‘Such an employment fair is being held in Russia for the first time, today it starts in all regions of the country. I wish you a productive day, so that each of you can find suitable employment options for yourself, and employers are willing to contact applicants. The government and the subordinate ministry, for their part, will try to do everything possible to create more jobs with decent wages in the region.’
Regional Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Energy Mikhail Torgashin wished employers to find competent, promising, reliable employees, and applicants – to fully unleash their potential as specialists, managers in those professions that are now in demand.
According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Head of the Office for the Development of Vocational Education and Organisational Work Lyudmila Grigoryeva, the fair participants have a unique opportunity to communicate directly with employers and get favorable job offers from them. ‘In addition, higher educational organizations offering retraining opportunities and continuing their studies are also represented at this exhibition,’ the deputy minister stressed.
Lyudmila Grigoryeva also reminded that on April 22, the All-Russian Open Day will be held, which will be held jointly with the employers of the region.
‘We talk about Saratov State University, about what directions there are for students and applicants, available vacancies and employment features. We are approached not only by young people, but also by people of older age categories,’ Olga Pishchalnikova, Deputy Head of the Office of Social Work, SSU, explained.
Tatyana Melnikova, a specialist of the Centre for Professional Development and Business Strategies, the Institute of Continuing Professional Education, SSU, spoke about the training and subsequent employment programs. ‘Our centre trains students as part of the Employment Promotion federal project of the Demography national programme, aimed at promoting employment of certain categories of citizens by organising their vocational training. The categories of citizens who can participate in the project include: citizens aged 50 years and older, citizens of pre-retirement age, women who are on parental leave until they reach the age of 3 years; women who are not in labour relations and have preschool children up to 7 years inclusive; unemployed citizens who are registered in the employment service and some other categories of citizens.’
For two days, the fair hosted express interviews with the best employers of the Saratov region, open selections with the possibility of quick employment, career guidance workshops, career opportunities development events, an interactive platform in the VR presentation format worked, an open enrollment for free training was conducted.
The organiser of the All-Russian Employment Fair is the Russian Ministry of Labour, regional authorities and employment centres with the participation of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Education, the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Rosmolodezh, ANPO National Priorities, and ANPO Dialog. The event is being held for the first time this year. Its goal is to unite job seekers and employers from different industries: from small and medium–sized businesses to large corporations. For participants, it is an opportunity to immediately pass an interview with several employers, find a job both inside their region and outside it.
