SSU Researchers Participated in Development of Local Section of Historical Park
On September 12, the exhibition preview took place in the historical park “Russia – My Hystory” at Ilinskaya Square. Its participants became the staff of the Institute of History and International Relations: Director T.V. Cherevichko, Chair of the Department of Russian History and Archeology S.A. Mezin, and Chair of the Department of National History and Historiography V.N. Danilov.
Director of the museum, Associate Professor of the SSU Department of Local History and Museum Studies D.A. Kubankin marked that nowadays the exhibition consists of only digital materials.
‘We planned to create a culture, recreation and education institution in order people would be interested in studying the history of their country. Later on we will organize new exhibitions with not only interactive content but genuine historical items. People can study historical periods via interactive equipment here.’
In his opinion, school and university students would be engrossed by the museum. They will attend not only educational excursions but lectures as well and watch educational movies.
Researchers of Saratov University became eager to coordinate with the museum complex. It should be noted that the main part of its staff are SSU graduates.
According to the university historians, the museum park is important for our region as Saratov citizens have an opportunity not only to learn about the chief historical facts but develop in general.
The historical park is equipped with interactive boards and books, touch screens and panels, and other devices used in modern museums. Moreover, historians, including staff of archives and museums, have prepared the vast local content.
The museum will consist of 4 exhibitions: the Rurik Dynasty, the Romanov Dynasty, From Tremendous Upheaval to the Great Victory (1917-1945), and the last one dedicated to the 20th and 21st centuries up to 2016. Besides, there are 2 halls – the Sphere and the Dome, where people can watch movies, video of stationary exhibitions, etc.
You should visit the museum for 30 days in order to examine all the displays. Therefore, the recreation zone and a café have been built there as well, so you can have a rest between excursions.
There is no age limit, and people can find interesting facts and information for their research or work here.
Officially, the historical park “Russia – My History” will open on September 15 at 2 p.m. Citizens will be able to attend it for free the following day, too.
