International Forum “Education Humanisation” Held in SSU

On March 14 the pedagogy researchers all over the country gathered at the forum in SSU.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs I.G. Malinskii opened the event and welcomed its members on behalf of SSU Rector A.N. Chumachenko.

‘This year we celebrate the 110th anniversary of Saratov University and the 100th anniversary of pedagogical higher education in the Saratov Region, and the traditional international forum is also held. I am glad to see guests from Russian regions and other countries. It proves the importance of the forum. It has been organised by the SSU Faculty of Pedagogical and Special Needs Education and the Institute of Childhood, Family and Education Studies (the Russian Academy of Education) a few times. The rector expresses his gratitude to them for it and wishes all the participants to make new discoveries and meet new people here.’

The forum Chair, Head of SSU Priority Projects and Programmes E.G. Yelina, underlined the significance of the event that a big research conference is held in the anniversary year for the university, and it is devoted to one of the main issues of modern science – education humanisation.

‘When we speak about school teachers and university professors, we often discuss the issue of professional burnout. Therefore, we must do our best to help our students-pedagogues want to work with children and students for many years. There are many other humanisation matters. For example, we need to find out how to effectively teach and make be interested in research children who use the internet regularly and who prefer to watch different videos instead of reading books or listening to teachers. It should be noted that students-pedagogues take part in the conference together with authoritative researchers and professors,’ reported Elena Genrikhovna.

Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogical and Special Needs Education R.M. Shamionov also delivered a speech there.

‘We must adapt to new changes in the world and teach students-pedagogues not to harm their future students. We have modern equipment, make reforms in education, and implement new standards. Today the reports will be dedicated to this main topic – education humanisation. Five pedagogical departments of the faculty have already been studying these issues and published study-guides. Other departments also try to find solutions to these problems, for example, psychologists create psychological environment. Therefore, we expect the conference members to take part in productive discussions and share their ideas with colleagues. We hope that due to the forum the education system will be reformed.’

The forum moderator, Chair of the SSU Department of Elementary Language and Literature Education L.I. Cheremisinova, discussed methodology of pedagogical work in the changing education environment.

Professor of Voronezh State Pedagogical University, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation Ye.P. Belozerov presented his report “Humanisation in Pedagogical Education: Dreams, Hopes, Concepts”.

‘We insist on humanisation of Russian education. We must find the way to improve pedagogical work. Nowadays we can lose our professional identity and only ‘imitate educational work’. Nevertheless, we rely on a lot of optimistic and historically pedagogical material in order to survive’ said Professor Ye.P. Belozerov.

The forum members discussed in a heated manner the concept of modern pedagogical universities.

Professor of Voronezh State Pedagogical University M.V. Shakurova devoted her speech to pedagogical and anti-pedagogical sides of latent content of educational environment. According to her, school teachers should create special atmosphere and help school children form definite lifestyle. Also she shared her impressions on visiting English schools. There the professor analysed the so-called ‘non-observing zones’, where children can have a rest far from the others.

Professor of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia M.P. Voyushina told the audience about a new approach in teaching the Russian language and literature in the Dialogue School educational system.

Professor of Vladimir State University L.K. Fortova reported on effective educational work at school and suggested to discuss how to help school children form and protect ethics.  

Professor F.G. Mukhametzyanova from Kazan Federal University presented master degree courses as an educational model for adults. She shared with the forum participants the results of her research on the ratio between student-centred and subjective-activity approaches.

Professor of Moscow City University B.V. Kupriyanov spoke about social and pedagogical reconstruction of camp counsellor work in Soviet pioneer camps in the 1960-80s.

After the plenary session the forum members took part in 10 sections held in SSU and other platforms. On March 15 the All-Russian Research Conference “Issues of Philological Education” was held within the forum.

Except for the on-site reports the forum consisted of video reports and video messages from 30 Russian cities and 7 countries, including Kazakhstan, Abkhazia, Belorussia, Israel, and Egypt.
