The iVolga youth educational forum of Volga Federal District has finished in Samara Region. According to its results, Matvei Shapovalov, a 4th-year student of the Institute of History and International Relations, became the winner in two grant competitions – The Projects of Volga Federal District and Rosmolodezh.Grants.
This year, the iVolga forum has been held for the 11th time and more than 2,000 people from 71 Russian regions have gathered on its site. From July 21 to 29, the students met with federal experts at the festival glade of Mastryukovskiye Lakes, participated in events, and, most importantly, improved their projects.
At the forum, two grant contests were held – the competition of projects organised by the Foundation for the Development of Civil Society Institutions in Volga Federal District and the competition from Rosmolodezh. The announcement of their results was one of the highlights of the forum closing ceremony. Matvei Shapovalov, a 4th-year student of the IH&IR, was among the winners. His project titled the Chess on the Run intensive orienteering school was highly appreciated and won in both contests.
Matvei Shapovalov's project is aimed at conducting orientation training events for students, as well as organising a final festival-competition with elements of a historical quest on the territory of Victory Park on Falcon Hill. The student plans to purchase equipment necessary for high-level events using grants.
‘I have visited the iVolga forum for the first time, and I remember absolutely everything! But most of all – the curricula, this year there were eight of them, as well as the speakers – the organisers of the most famous and large-scale sports events in our country. It was incredibly interesting for me to get to know each of them, learn their stories, the difficulties they faced on the way to preparing reference sports events. I would like to note that the staff of the SSU Office for Youth Policy have helped me develop my project,’ Matvei Shapovalov said.
To add, 35 out of 156 announced projects have reached the finals of the competition held by the Foundation for the Development of Civil Society Institutions in Volga Federal District, with only nine of them presented at the finals. At the same time, 507 applications were submitted and 30 of them won in the Rosmolodezh.Grants contest.
The iVolga youth forum of Volga Federal District is included into the programme of the Rosmolodezh.Events platform. The organizers are the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in Volga Federal District, the Government of Samara Region, and Rosmolodezh.
