On February 15, Saratov State University announced the winners of the annual beauty, talent, and intelligence contest. The finals of Miss and Mr. SSU were held in the Assembly Hall, Bldg. 10.

The event was hosted by Vladislav Kovalenko, First Vice-Mr. SSU-2019, and Julia Ilyashenko, Miss SSU-2022. They announced the candidates for victory and invited them to the stage.

The participants of the contest welcomed the audience of the fashion show, demonstrating their original stage outfits. Then they presented themselves and performed, as well as showed a video.

The students seriously prepared for the finals and showed their best qualities on stage – the audience appreciated their acting, singing, dancing, and even stand-up. For example, Sofia Atsigeida, a student of the Institute of Physics, gave a humorous lecture from the School of Happiness, where she prepared the girls for family life. Anna Chernysheva, a student of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education, surprised the audience with a folk dance with hip-hop elements. And Mikhail Putkaradze, a student of the Institute of Physics, showed his skills in DJing and created an original musical set.

The awarding ceremony started with the Miss and Mr. Friendship nomination. They were Valeria Bochkareva, a student of the Faculty of Sociology, and Artyom Smalyuga, a student of the Institute of Physics. The winners in this nomination were chosen by the participants themselves.

The winners of People’s Choice Award were determined by voting in the Telegram channel of Saratov State University. Anna Chernysheva, a student of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical and Special Needs Education, and Ali Zakilov, a student of the Faculty of Law, became Miss and Mr. of People’s Choice Award.

The winners in the Miss and Mr. Student Club nomination were students of the Institute of Physics Sofia Atsigeida and Mikhail Putkaradze. Anna Chernysheva, a student of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education, and Artem Smalyuga, a student of the Institute of Physics, can now call themselves Miss and Mr. Intelligence.

Anastasia Sinichkina, a presenter of STRC Saratov, was invited to the stage to announce the winners in the Miss and Mr. Television nomination. She explained the criteria following which she had chosen the winners in this nomination. ‘I chose the winner with my eyes, since television is primarily a picture; with my ears, because it is important for journalists to be able to speak; and, of course, with my heart, because you always need charm and charisma.’ Yana Makarova, a student of the Faculty of Psychology, and Mikhail Putkaradze, a student of the Institute of Physics, won this nomination.

The head coach of the Saratov Regional Shaping Federation Lyudmila Shirshova took the stage to award Miss and Mr. Charm. The winners in this nomination were Valeria Bochkareva, a student of the Faculty of Sociology, and Ali Zakilov, a student of the Faculty of Law.

A special prize from photographer Ilya Lichtman was awarded to Maria Solonina, a student of the Faculty of Psychology, and Nikita Pavlov, a student of the Faculty of Biology.

Alexander Mezhonov, a student of the Faculty of Economics, became Second Vice-Mr. SSU, and Maria Solonina, a student of the Faculty of Psychology, became Second Vice-Miss SSU-2024. Mikhail Putkaradze, a student of the Institute of Physics, became First Vice-Mr. SSU-2024, and Sofia Atsigeida, a student of the Institute of Physics, was announced First Vice-Miss.

Acting Rector of the university, Vice-Rector for Research and Digital Development Aleksei Koronovskii was invited to award Miss and Mr. SSU-2024. ‘I was very pleased to admire our participants and was glad that they were charming, outstanding, and talented. It is great that such students are studying at Saratov State University. I know that there are smart, charming, and wonderful students in the hall. You have a big, bright, beautiful life ahead of you, it goes without saying. It was a holiday for us, and it was clearly a difficult struggle for the participants!’

Ali Zakilov, a student of the Faculty of Law, was chosen as Mr. SSU-2024. ‘Honestly, it was very exciting, but we did it! I consider this one of the greatest achievements in our student life, and life in general!’ Ali said.

Anna Chernysheva, a student of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education, became Miss SSU-2024. ‘The emotions are just incredible! We were very worried, especially when the results were being announced, but we still won and are incredibly happy about it,’ Anna said.

The presenters congratulated the winners. The participants received sincere congratulations from their support groups, and together they stayed on stage to take memorable photos.

This year, the jury has included Acting Rector of the university, Vice-Rector for Research and Digital Development Aleksei Koronovskii, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko, Director of the Student Club Mark Pinkhasik, Chair of the Student Trade Union, SSU, Victoria Bannikova, Head of the Office for Social Work Marina Kabanova, Chair of the Arts Council of the University, Professor of the Department of Political Sciences Vladimir Mitrokhin, a member of the Arts Council of the university, Professor of the Department of Region Sociology Yaroslav Nikiforov, one of the founders of the Miss and Mr. SSU contest, Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Marketing Anastasia Abritalina, Chair of the Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates, SSU, Vladislav Bykov, the head coach of the Saratov Regional Shaping Federation Lyudmila Shirshova, Mr. SSU-2023 Sergei Kulik, Miss SSU-2014 Eva Yakubovskaya, and a presenter of the STRC Saratov Anastasia Sinichkina.
