On April 24, a meeting of the Rectors’ Union of Saratov Region was held at Saratov State University. The event was opened by Chair of the Union, SSU Rector Alexei Chumachenko.

The first issue on the agenda was the discussion of interdepartmental cooperation in terms of migration legislation by international students. Federal Inspector for Saratov Region Lyudmila Borisova and Head of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Saratov Region Julia Ryzhkova proposed to improve the mechanisms of interaction between universities and international students.

The second issue of the meeting was devoted to the implementation of the main provisions of the message of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Deputy Prime Minister of Saratov Region – Minister of Education of the region Mikhail Orlov – commented on how universities were participating in federal projects, according to the instructions of the president.

The third item on the agenda was the discussion of the cooperation of universities with the Youth Policy Committee and the participation of the regional youth in events at various levels. The chair of the committee Angelina Belovitskaya emphasised the preparation of the region for the Russian Student Spring festival, which will be held in Saratov from May 26 to May 31. She also paid attention to other projects – the Meteor district youth forum of the Volga Federal District, the 9th Volga-Yangtze Russian-Chinese Youth Forum, the #WEARETOGETHER international award, and the forum activities.

In conclusion, the participants of the meeting approved the plan of the Rectors’ Union of the Saratov Region for 2024.
