On June 24, there was held the graduation ceremony of Boarding Lyceum 64, Success is Based on the Commonwealth of the Elements, in the assembly hall, SSU Bldg. 10. The solemn event was attended by SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko, Deputy Minister of Education of the region Irina Chinayeva, the SSTU and SSAU rectors, the SSMU and SSC vice-rectors, as well as the schoolchildren and their parents.
The event opened with a video message from the Chair of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the initiator of the project and the trustee of the lyceum Vyacheslav Volodin. He congratulated the graduates of the pre-university, urged them to take a responsible approach to choosing a life path, set high goals, broaden the knowledge gained at the lyceum, and go on.
At the festival, the scenario allegorically showed the history of the establishment of the lyceum as if it was the commonwealth of the elements of earth, water, air, fire, and ether. Its unique concept gave the opportunity to talented children of the entire Saratov Region to self-fulfil in one of five areas corresponding to the talent of each – Programming, Robotics, Biotechnology, the Medicine of the Future, and Culture. At the initiative of the Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, these educational areas are supervised by five universities in Saratov: Saratov State University is responsible of programming.
The honoured guest of the evening, Deputy Minister of Education of Saratov Region Irina Chinayeva, hoped the graduates would meet only kind and decent people on a wide life path. The excellent students of the lyceum received the coveted certificates of a special sample and gold medals from Director of the Boarding Lyceum Svetlana Bakal. After that, there began the ceremony of awarding certificates to the graduates.
The students of the Programming direction were the first to take the stage. SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko was invited to the stage to present certificates. He congratulated the lyceum students on the holiday. ‘You are wonderful graduates. For you, the Lyceum has become your home not only because of the excellent environment that have been created here, but also because you have a wonderful teaching staff. A new exciting and interesting stage begins for you, graduates. I hope that on September 1 we will see many of you among the students of Saratov State University.’
We emphasize that Saratov State University has developed and conducts classes in programming grades in various disciplines related to information technologies, programming, computer science, as well as preparing students for olympiads in programming. Last year, the university and the lyceum cooperated at a new level. For the first time, scientific projects in programming were developed under the supervision of the university staff.
The graduates of the following four directions were congratulated by SSTU Rector Sergei Naumov, SSAU Rector Dmitrii Solovyev, SSMU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Irina Bugayeva, and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Saratov State Conservatory Vyacheslav Bondarenko. Each of them wished the talented youth success in all their initiatives.
We remind that SSU staff conduct special courses in the Russian language, literature, the English literature, biology, chemistry, and physics for students of all grades of the lyceum. The SSU Centre for the Support of Talented Children has developed tests to determine the grades atmosphere, as well as tests and assignments for entrance tests to the lyceum. Saratov State University began to cooperate with the Pre-University even before its opening, participating in the development of the courses and the concept of a new type of educational institution.
