SSU Students and University Shift Members Attended Concert Dedicated to Anniversary of Donbass and New Russia Reunification
On September 30, a concert dedicated to the anniversary of the reunification of the People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with Russia took place at Theatre Square in Saratov. More than 8 thousand people attended the event Your home is Russia! in the city centre.
It was attended by Governor Roman Busargin, government representatives, deputies, social activists, as well as residents of the city with their families. The delegation of students and professors of Saratov State University was headed by SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko.
48 high school students from the People's Republic of Donetsk became special guests of the concert. The children from September 26 to October 5 are participating in the University Shifts educational and tourist programme at SSU. The pilot project is supported by the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Russian Ministry of Education. A delegation of the teachers and schoolchildren from the new Russian regions were invited to the main stage of the city.

As part of the programme, the schoolchildren from Mariupol and Donetsk have had the opportunity to expand the boundaries of their knowledge. The children are happy to go on excursions and, of course, participate in the educational programme. Many thanks to your region and Saratov State University!’ the adviser to the principal of education and cooperation with children's non-governmental organisations of school of Mariupol Tatyana Oseyeva said.
The schoolchildren from the People's Republic of Donetsk also replied. ‘September 30 is a significant date for us! We are glad today to be part of a large country that unites 89 regions!’
The festive programme consisted of singing and dancing performances – the songs Russia, Let’s Go!, From the Volga to the Yenisei, We, Where the Motherland Begins, and other favourite songs.
The Training Centre of Combat Artillery organised an exhibition where there were presented ten units of military equipment and various models of small armoury. Everyone could eat buckwheat porridge and drank tea with sugar at the field kitchen.
The concert at Theatre Square continued to the music of the orchestra of the Saratov Military Order of Zhukov of the Red Banner Institute of the Russian National Guard Troops.
It should be noted that during the week, students of Saratov State University have participated in patriotic flash mobs and projects in honour of the holiday.
