On September 21, the 2020 Young Manager School was opened in SSU Bldg. XII. This is the third enrollment for the School initiated by Governor Valerii Radaev in 2018. The project is implemented by Saratov State University, Povolzhsky Institute of Management named after P.A. Stolypin, and Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov (which has joined to the School this year). The course attendees will broaden their management competencies and after graduating from it they will be able to apply for the personnel pool of the Saratov Region Government. This year, 152 applications have been submitted to the School. After passing the preliminary selection, 100 students have successfully passed the test and been enrolled there.
This year, 33 attendees of a professional retraining course will study state and municipal management at the Institute of Continuing Professional Education (ICPE), Saratov University. These are young people under the age of 30 who work in municipal boards and region ministries. There are also the so-called self-nominated candidates who run their own enterprises. This fall, people with a wide variety of professional experience will study there: a landscape architect, an inspector of a company of a Patrol Guard Service regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a teacher of history and social studies, a consultant of the Department of Land Relations of the Administration of Land and Property Relations, an assistant of a magistrate judge, a coach of a sports school, a head of the Department of Economics and Investment Policy of the Office of Economic Development of the Municipal Administration.
At the opening ceremony the new students were greeted by ICPE Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and Research Work Gennadii Tashpekov. He emphasized the importance of a unique educational project, the purpose of which is “to form a talent pool of young managers endowed with professional competence, business qualities, and creative potential. The region government has entrusted the learning process to three Saratov universities. The highlight of our course is more classes of psychological technologies of leadership and management.”
Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Lyudmila Aksenovskaya noted that traditionally her colleagues did the same work for all the three Saratov universities participating in the project, namely, they chose the participants using psychological diagnostics. “Today we are meeting with those who have chosen our university and our course titled the Psychological Technologies of Leadership and Management,” she said. “The psychological aspect of management intrigues the many young people who are building their careers. We are ready to help them show their best as promising candidates for vacant positions in the region administration system. Usually our course is chosen by those who already have some knowledge in management and expect to acquire new skills, learn how to apply this knowledge in working with people most effectively. We update our course every year. This time, the audience will have three trainings and live interactive lectures.”
Professor L. Aksenovskaya defined her first project lecture as the Management of the Organisation Culture Territory: Tools to Forma Emotional and Value Unity of the Company Staff and the Territory Community.
Studying the schedule of classes during the break, many read aloud other lecture topics: The Organisation Image and the Leader Image, How the First Impression Influences Business Communication, The Emotional Intelligence of the Leader and its Impact on the Management Interaction, The Psychology Planning Techniques and Management at Work, The Employee and Team Motivation.
Thus, the students of the school will have a bunch of education events. They will learn about the best management practices, take part in the Leadership in a Project Team competition, attend consultations on project development, pre-defend and, finally, in December defend their graduation projects in the Saratov Region Government.
At the end of the meeting, Gennadii Tashpekov pointed out that young people were preparing to work in teams as they would have to create management projects for the development of the Saratov region territories. He recalled the words of SSU Rector, Professor A. Chumachenko, “I would like you to be those people who really understand the existing problems, who are ready to join in finding solutions to them. Saratov University will be able to train specialists who will successfully change the current managers.”
