On 12 June the delegation of Saratov University took part in the events devoted to Russia Day.

Youth organised a flash mob, they marched and carried a big Russian flag along the new embankment. In the evening a concert was held at the conservatoire, where young people, local authorities, and education workers participated. The concert was also attended by the members of the SSU Undergraduate and Graduate Council. They enjoyed Russian folk dances and songs about Saratov and Russia.

‘I like taking part in such events as Russia Day. You can feel unity, friendship and creativity in the air. Today the concert has proved it. I adore the dancing and singing groups who have performed today, all of them are genuinely talented and sincere,’ shared her impressions a 2nd-year student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Sofia Tsyganova.

During the day different events were organised in People’s Friendship and Yuri Gagarin Squares, the parks, and other platforms. On Rakhov Boulevard there was held a pavement painting contest, while the embankment hosted a competition in beach football among children and youth teams.

The citizens listened to excursions around the city. On Volzhskaya Street the people were entertained by dancing groups of different styles like hip-hop, break dance, freestyle, etc.

Besides, the previous day SSU Rector Aleksei N. Chumachenko, SSU President Leonid Yu. Kossovich, and young university researchers were invited to take part in the ceremony devoted to Russia Day in the Government of the Saratov Region.
