On May 24, on the Day of Slavic Alphabet and Culture, flowers were laid at the monument to Saints Cyril and Methodius Equal to the Apostles. The memory of the creators of the Old Slavonic alphabet and the Church Slavonic language was honoured by SSU Rector Alexei Chumachenko, the vice-rectors, the teaching and other staff, as well as the students of the university.
The event was preceded by the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius Equal to the Apostles. After that, the parishioners joined in the laying on ceremony. This tradition originated from the moment the monument appeared near Bldg. 10, SSU, and is held annually. The ceremony was accompanied by a church chant by the choir of the Saratov Orthodox Theological Seminary.
