On Thursday, October 6, the first round of All-Russia Dance Project “In Motion” (“V dvizhenii”) started in N.G. Chernyshevsky Saratov National Research State University. Before the qualifying round everyone could attend free workshops on different activities offered by “Territory of the Bright Ones” (“Territoriya Yarkikh”) Student Spring School. The coordinators of the event in SSU buildings XV and XIII were choreographer and director of “Art-mix” dance group A.A. Timofeev and director of “Uzory” folk dance group O.I. Kolomiets.
The workshop of M.V. Shchetinina, a director, choreographer, stage director of the opening and closing ceremonies of Russian Student Spring in Vladivistok, gathered more than 50 students from several Saratov universities, such as SSU, N.I.Vavilov SSAU, U.A. Gagarin SSTU, G.V. Plekhanov SSEI and others. The workshop was held in the event hall of building XIII and dedicated to release dance technique.
Marina Vladimirovna spoke about basic feet positions, correct breathing patterns, demonstrated balance exercises, “fall to the floor” technique and some simple yoga and also tested students’ vestibular system. The choreographer pointed out that most of the dancers were well prepared.
The atmosphere at the lesson was warm with students not only learning dance movements but also chatting with the choreographer and asking her for advice.
Meanwhile, “Classical modern” workshop was taking place in building XV. It was conducted by choreographer and stage director, educator, member of Russian and international contests jury, diploma holder of “Dance Olimp Berlin 2013” International Contest, principal performer of Russian National Ballet G.S. Dorzhieva.
As a warm-up dancers did some stretching exercises and then performed classical positions at a ballet bar, diligently trying to make their movements smooth, position their hands correctly and keep their backs straight.
Workshops are the first preparation round of All-Russian Dance Project “In Motion” that will take place in SSU on October 29-31 and gather dance groups from different regions.
