On March 3, the University Snowflake 2024 traditional student ski racing competition took place at the ski centre of Saratov State University. The sports event is organised by the Institute of Physical Training and Sports, SSU.
This year, the distances were announced at the general meeting – men – 3 km, women – 2 km. Nine student teams and staff teams each took part in the race.
The judges were the teaching staff of the Institute of Physical Training and Sports. The chief judge of the competition was Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Vasilii Pozdnyakov, and the judge at the start was Chair of the Department of Sports Disciplines Victor Mishagin. The results were calculated by Senior Lecturer Svetlana Serebrennikova.
In the teaching staff team over-all, the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies took the first place, the Institute of Physics – the second, and the Institute of Chemistry – the third. In the individual competition among men, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory of Computer Security and Cryptography Nikolai Bondarev was the first to finish, Professor of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Ecology Sergei Shtykov became the second, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Solid Body Physics Anton Mitin took the third place.
Among women, the first place was taken by Associate Professor of the Department of Geophysics Ksenia Sokulina, the second – Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Social Philosophy Svetlana Malkina, and the third – Associate Professor of the Department of Theory of Computer Security and Cryptography Anastasia Zharkova.
According to the results of the competition, the first place was won by the team of the Institute of History and International Relations, the 2nd place was taken by the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technology, and the 3rd place was taken by the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics.
In the individual competition among the female students, the 1st place was won by a student of the Faculty of Biology Irina Raikova, the second was taken by a student of the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technology Anastasia Dorokhina, and the 3rd place – by a student of the Faculty of Biology Anastasia Kolobukhova.
Among the male students, Dmitrii Karsalov, a student of the Institute of History and International Relations, became the leader of the race, Maxim Ryazantsev, a student of the Institute of History and International Relations, finished the second, and Sergei Moskalenko, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, took the 3rd place.
‘The weather for the competition has been good this year, there is enough snow, a comfortable temperature regime, and the track is good. It is nice that so many participants have gathered and missed skiing. Both students and staff have showed excellent results," Victor Mishagin summed up.
All participants of the ski races became cheerful and finished with a good mood, as well spent the weekend productively.
