Students from Luhansk State Pedagogical University to Take IT-Course in SSU

Students of Luhansk State Pedagogical University are to take a professional re-training course of the Digital Departments project at Saratov State University. Online classes start on September 18 and will last for one academic year.

SSU and LSPU are cooperating as part of the consortium for training personnel in industry and IT, which is part of the Teachers in the Educational Paradigm strategic project of the Priority 2030 programme.

Fourteen students of the Institute of Physical and Mathematical Education, Information and Service Technologies, LSPU, taking the course in pedagogical education, have enrolled in the re-training professional course in working with data: programming in Python. This is the first time that students of another university study at the Digital Department, Saratov State University.

The course was developed by the staff of the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies, SSU. The training is aimed at the development of key competencies of the digital economy among students taking the courses not related to IT. The graduates will be ready to produce and analyse, as well as will be able to develop software and apply artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to solve practical problems. After presenting their final projects and completing the training, the students will receive a diploma of professional re-training and become data processing specialists.

‘Due to the implementation of the Digital Departments project, we will be able to prepare new personnel for the technological breakthrough of the Russian Federation, as well as to ensure the transition from the foreign software market to the domestic one. Our task is not to make every student a programmer, but to give everyone the opportunity to apply their skills in the IT-industry. It is important that young professionals understand that information technology is now a tool, an integral part of any profession. Knowledge of IT expands the functionality of specialists and helps solve complex tasks more quickly and efficiently,’ Chair of the Digital Departments project, SSU, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies, SSU, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Programming Elena Kudrina said.

The Digital Departments project is part of the Development of Human Resources in IT federal project of the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation national programme. It has been implemented due to the Priority 2030 programme since 2022.
