On October 4, Governor of the region Roman Busargin met with the participants of the University Shift at a panel discussion in the Boiling Point, SSU Bldg. 12.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education of Saratov Region Mikhail Orlov. The guests were met by Chair of the Rectors’ Union of Saratov Region, SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko.

48 high school students from the People's Republic of Donetsk from September 26 to October 5 are to participate in the University Shifts educational and tourist programme in SSU. The project was launched with the support of the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Russian Ministry of Education.

Governor Roman Busargin took the floor to greet the University Shift.

‘Many thanks to our classical university and the rector who organised this programme. I hope that many of you will study in Saratov Region and, perhaps, will stay here to live. This year has been declared the Year of Teachers and Mentors – we pay special attention to teachers. You have met one of the strongest universities in Saratov, a large student city. We are doing everything possible to ensure peaceful life in Donbas and New Russia. Surely, we will succeed, because Russia is a strong country,’ he said.

The moderator of the panel discussion was SSU Vice-rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko.

‘For many high school students, the University Shifts have become a unique opportunity to get acquainted with our university, its infrastructure, laboratories, and courses. This is the introductory career guidance course that will help you find your future professional vocation in an interesting and entertaining way,’ Anton Golovchenko said.

A huge number of pedagogical projects are implemented at SSU. Saratov State University is the leading university in the region, which trains preschool teachers, school teachers, and mentors. That is why the university shift of the SSU profile camp is called The Teachers of the Future.

The panel discussion was devoted to education and mentors. Roman Busargin was asked questions about his school and student years, teachers and mentors. At the beginning of the meeting, Anton Golovchenko asked about the qualities of a modern young teacher and what the governor thought about the School of the Future.

He said that he especially remembered the first school line-up and the primary school teacher. The governor believes that a teacher should form the character of children and be able to find in children those traits that will form a future successful person. According to the governor, a teacher is a second parent who teaches you to love your country and contribute to its development. Answering the question, Roman Busargin commented on his career path.

The participants of the University Shifts were also able to ask their questions to the governor. They were interested who Roman Busargin had dreamed of becoming as a child, whether his grade was friendly, what kinds of sports he had been engaged in.

Advisor to the Director of Education and Interaction with Children's Non-Profit Associations of Mariupol Secondary School Tatyana Oseyeva thanked the organisers of the project and hoped for continued visits to Saratov. The audience applauded the teachers who accompanied the children on a trip from Donetsk and Mariupol.

Roman Busargin said that the region would continue to implement the University Shifts project. ‘We are brothers. We speak the same language, we think the same way, we love our country! Together we are one big family! Now Saratov is your second hometown.’

At the end of the meeting, all the participants took a memorable photo.
