On September 1, the SSU first-year students will receive a new issue of the Sweet Milk magazine at the line-up. To do this, you need to find our stand at Student Square, where the celebration will take place. The editors of the magazine Ekaterina Seliveyova and Inna Akayeva will be waiting for everyone there.

The print run of the new issue of Sweet Milk is 500 copies, and the electronic version is already available here.

The cover depicts the winners of the Miss and Mr. SSU contest Margarita Rybakova and Sergei Kulik. The background was the graffiti drawn by students of the Pro-Arts 2.0 forum.

Traditionally, the editorial of Ekaterina Selivyorova (Executive Editor) and Inna Akayeva (Editor-in-Chief) is on the first page of the issue. ‘We have dedicated this bright issue to the youngest students – Saratov State University. We sincerely congratulate you, because you have made the right choice!’

Here, read about the team that worked on the issue. It consisted of more than 30 people, including applicants from the Institute of Philology and Journalism.

The main article of the issue, prepared by Elmira Fomina, is called The Periodic System of a Student of Saratov State University. Due to this kind of instruction, first-year students will learn to distinguish tutors and curators, the point-rating system and BARS, a test and an exam, and also learn about the “bonuses” of student life: scholarships, academic leave, and vacations.

The next page is dedicated to acquaintance with Saratov State University. For someone it is an educational site, for someone – a place of self-development in science, creativity, or sports. For the Sweet Milk team, it is something more: new people, interesting lectures, and the family. The article prepared by Svetlana Andreyeva and Daria Tikhonchuk will help you learn more about the history of the university. At the SSU History Museum, they were told about the construction of the buildings and showed the models of the university campus, saw the menu that was at the opening ceremony of the university and other unique exhibits.

An informative travel article will tell first-year students about the great people the university halls and rooms are the named after.

Most of the issue is devoted to advice for first-year students from their adult “colleagues”: the people from the cover shared their experience of participating in the Miss and Mr. SSU contest with Veronika Galkovskaya and Egor Lyalin. Alisa Miretskaya talked with the representatives of the SSU student associations and activists. They spoke about their admission, as well as their expectations from the university, and shared proven life hacks in their studies.

Maria Vdovina asked the winners of the Step into the Profession annual competition how their contest had been held, why they had chosen the thorny journey which is working as a teacher. Anna Gnusareva learned about Ivan Belyaev’s rules of life, the world football champion in the student league and the holder of the Best Player title of the student championship.

Dmitry Kovshov, a photographer of the Office of Media Communications, SSU, and its employees Polina Gromova and Valeria Agadzhanova also decided to help young students. They have prepared a colourful map of the university buildings so that first-year students would not get confused by Buildings 8 and 9, as well as they would know where our library, swimming pool, or dormitory were located. Bild Editor of Sweet Milk Svetlana Artamonova gathered the brightest events of the past semester in the Kaleidoscope of Events, the first part of which appeared in issue No. 40.

In the September issue, a new section dedicated to science was published, The Invisible Fighters of The Scientific Front. The author of the text visited the laboratories of Saratov State University and explained in laymen terms their unique devices. The first issue of the heading is dedicated to advanced laboratories that are part of the SSU Research Medical Centre.

Neural networks were also used when creating the magazine Tatiana Alexandrova and Midjourney fantasised what the everyday life of a SSU student looked like.

Elnara Amrakhova's interview with a foreign student, a sophomore student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Shaimoa Harkushe was published in the Map of the World regular heading. She commented on moving from Morocco, the difference in cultures, and how she had been expelled.

The topic of travel also found a place in the 41st issue of the magazine: Ekaterina Selivyorova had flown to Perm on one day and met the guitar master Vladimir Sysoyev, who has been creating handmade author's instruments for more than 20 years. Chair of the Department of Climatology and Meteorology, SSU, Maksim Chervyakov shared vivid memories and pictures from a New Year's trip to Jordan and Lebanon.

A separate place in the magazine is devoted to creativity. The students and teaching staff of Saratov State University easily combine studies, exams, and their hobbies: Associate Professor of the Department of National History and Historiography Anton Luchnikov proves it by his example – ‘most historians can sing and play’. He told Nadezhda Kalinina how creativity laconically fit into his life and work at the university. Using the QR code on the page, listen to the Institute of Philology and Journalism students' podcast entitled Let's Take a Test and find out how to pass a test or exam in Anton Luchnikov’s disciplines.

Veronika Kukhta, Content Editor of Sweet Milk, talked with Vitalii Ageyenkov, an old-timer of the SSU Student Club, who combines the roles of an actor, costumer, stage director, and puppet master. He spoke about the last hobby in detail: how he had started making dolls, what is the difference between muppets and paper tole, and which of the dolls is his favourite.

The Student Perks heading pleases first-year students with the first bonuses. Deputy Director of the Student Club Alexander Yefimov and Varvara Romanova revealed the secrets how to present your project and win a grant for its implementation. Victoria Gruzdis collected all the perks that a student card holder has: from discounts on buns to cheap plane tickets and free tickets to the theatre.

Illustrator Sofia Sarygina has compiled a mandatory freshman to-do list, which is on the back cover of the magazine by checking the completed items.

In addition to the printed edition of the magazine, there are accounts of Sweet Milk in social networks, so subscribe to them using the links in VKontakte and Telegram.
