Deputy Prime Minister of Saratov Region – Minister of Education of the region Mikhail Orlov and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Saratov State University Igor Malinskii spoke about the advantages of targeted training of teaching staff live on the official page of Saratov Region in VKontakte.

Mikhail Orlov stressed the need to saturate the labour market in Saratov Region with teaching staff.

‘One of the effective ways to solve the problem of the shortage of teaching staff in the region is targeted training. This is a unique opportunity to get not only education, but also guaranteed employment,’ he noted.

To take targeted training students must sign agreements with employers. After graduation, they have to work for 3 to 5 years in the schools that acted as customers. A target agreement can be signed not only by applicants, but also by students at any stage of study.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, SSU, Igor Malinskii commented the admission campaign at SSU, which will start on June 20. In the new academic year, 291 places have been given at SSU for targeted training in the education and pedagogical sciences group (236 of them at Saratov State University and 55 at Balashov Institute, SSU).

This year, Pedagogical Institute has been established at SSU, which will implement the courses for teachers of almost all profiles. Targeted training is an unprecedented measure of support. The target audience comes through a separate competition – due to it, you will have more chances to be enrolled earlier than students entering the general competition. During the course of study, the students will have the opportunity to adapt to work in a particular school by taking an internship there. We hope that such support measures will bear fruit,’ Igor Malinskii said.

The innovations provide measures to support students whose training profile will allow them to teach the following subjects at school: Russian language and literature, mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, and a foreign language.

So, from September 1, 2024, the target students of teaching courses will receive, in addition to academic scholarships, an additional scholarship in the amount of 10,000 roubles at the university and 7,000 roubles at pedagogical colleges, as well as a city payment in the amount of 2,800 roubles. They can be guaranteed in case of successful exams passing.

In addition, the students’ trip to the place of internship will be paid, and housing rental benefits will also be provided.

Students can sign employment contracts with future employers within a month after admission to the university based on the results of the Unified State Exams, as well as at any stage of training. To sign a target agreement, it is necessary to respond to the proposals of employers on the Work of Russia digital platform. You can apply for a job in paper or online via the Public Services portal. Employers, including schools, will publish vacancies for applicants on the website no later than June 10. The target studying can be obtained only in one university or college and only in one course.

In the new academic year, on the initiative of Governor Roman Busargin, a programme for attracting teachers to remote areas of the region, Rural Teachers, will start. The implementation of the project involves a one-time payment of 1 million roubles to teachers. Young teachers will have to devote 5 years to work in schools in remote areas. This year, 15 quotas are given for this project.

‘There is no such complex of motivating methods in any region of Volga Federal District,’ Mikhail Orlov summed up.
