At the Dubki Children's Health and Education Centre, the 24th Constellation Regional Summer School for Talented Pupils will start on August 19. The school will be attended by high school students who have shown high results at subject olympiads of various levels in natural sciences, physics, mathematics, and humanities, 220 people in total.
The founders of the young talents shift are the Ministry of Education of Saratov Region and the Saratov State University.
For 10 days, the participants of the school will be able not only to relax before the start of the academic year, but also to significantly expand their educational horizons. The teaching staff and researchers of Saratov State University will conduct lectures, seminars, academic fights, quests, olympiads, and master classes for each team every day, as well as solve complex and non-standard tasks in various subjects of the school curriculum together with pupils.
This year, in addition to the traditional areas – mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, history, geography, Russian language, literature, English, and German – for the first time a team of young biologists will be organised in the Constellation. And Elmira Kaibeleva, a staff member of the Faculty of Biology, SSU, will become its scientific supervisor.
Not only subject classes, but also electives will be held for the children. The staff of the regional mobile technological park will organise daily courses in robotics and industrial design, hold Sumo Robots robotics competitions for all the participants of this shift team, a competition for the development of graphic design, as well as a tournament on programming and piloting unmanned aerial vehicles.
As part of the Constellation shift, its staff will hold the 7th Rising Stars City Summer School for Talented Children. 50 children from Saratov schools will be distributed in three groups. The youngest, members of the First Lego League (Explore) robotics and the First Lego League (Challenge) competition teams, will unite in the Stars team. The basics of programming in Python will be mastered by pupils of 6th-7th grades from Physics and Technology Lyceum No. 1, Lyceum of Mathematics and Information Technologies, and Lyceum of Applied Sciences.
And due to the summer training of teams participating in mathematical battles (5th-6th grade), they will be able to form a city team to participate in Russian competitions in the new academic year. During the shift, 20 students of the Programmers Olympiad Training Centre named after N.L. Andreyeva, SSU, will hold traditional summer training.
After the end of all compulsory and elective classes, the Constellation participants, both high school students and “rising stars”, will have a good time. The counsellors have prepared an interesting educational programme for them – ice-breaker games, quests, intellectual marathons, the What? Where? When? game, creative events in the evenings, sports competitions, master classes, etc.
The Constellation is a great opportunity for talented schoolchildren of Saratov Region to get together, learn something new, share their experiences, make new friends, and relax. For ten days, they will be accompanied scientific supervisors and counsellors – caring professionals who are always ready to help.
