Anna Kulikova, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, and Elena Buivolova, a student of the Institute of History and International Relations, won the Rosmolodezh. Grants All-Russian contest. They will receive 650 thousand and 200 thousand roubles, respectively, to implement their projects.
Due to the Rosmolodezh. Grants contest active and initiative young people have a chance to win a grant for the development of their socially significant projects. The competition promotes the involvement of young people in creative and social events, increasing their civic engagement, forming a healthy lifestyle, and unlocking their potential, creating an effective system of social elevators for self-fulfilment.
This year, nine participants from Saratov Region have become winners of the competition, including students of Saratov State University.
Anna Kulikova, a sophomore of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, received a grant in the Dear Ones nomination for the project entitled Down the River – To Unite the Family. It is aimed at organising family holidays near the water and is designed to unite families to participate in environmental projects to clear the Bear River and its embankment.
According to Anna, the idea of the project appeared after conducting a survey of the Youth Plus regional centre among schoolchildren of School No. 3. They were asked how they spent their weekends. According to the results, 53% of children prefer to communicate more with friends than with relatives, while the number of those who want to spend leisure time with their family was 30%. In addition, schoolchildren spend their free time at the computer screen or in front of the TV (38%). Such a picture can lead to the fact that children will begin to move away from their parents and there will be an increase in the distance between generations. A family vacation can fix this situation.
‘Families in our hot summer choose a joint vacation on the river, as only a few can afford long trips to the Volga or to the sea. Mostly they swim in shallow water, but some raft on the Bear River. It is important for me not only to teach families to spend time together, but also to strengthen the link between generations and improve the environmental situation by promoting outdoor recreation with the whole family organising and conducting hiking trips and rafting on the Bear on sapboards and kayaks,’ Anna Kulikova said.
The student will spend the grant on holding holidays and swims, environmental projects, for example, collecting plastic caps, as well as on the purchase of necessary equipment.
The winner in the Make Opportunities nomination is a 3rd-year student of the Institute of History and International Relations Elena Buivolova. She presented the project of the sports and educational search camp entitled Sports and Search. Its goal is to popularise an active lifestyle among schoolchildren and students aged 14-24 years. In addition, one of its tasks is to introduce to the search activity with further development in the search movement.
‘As part of the camp programme, we plan to create field conditions for the search expedition, which will include accommodation, meals, and work. We will also conduct lectures on the arrangement, safety in the camping, as well as a sports and intellectual quest with various stations,’ Elena explained.
The Sports and Search camp will last for two days, and it will be situated in the natural conditions of Saratov Region. Elena Buivolova will spend the grant on purchasing tents, foam, and other tourist items.
