On March 31, as part of the Saratov Regional University Tours project, introductory excursions for high school students were held at SSU. The guests were students of grades 9-11 from Balashov and Romanovka.
Future applicants were shown laboratories, an interactive anatomical table "Pirogov" and a Museum of physical devices. Activists of the Staff of the SSU Student Brigades participated in the organization of the event and as volunteers accompanied schoolchildren during excursions around the university.
In interdisciplinary technological educational and scientific laboratories, schoolchildren met with Rector Aleksei Chumachenko and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko. "Our laboratories are designed for scientific research of students who are ready and willing to realize their ambitions, to bring basic developments to the finished product," the rector explained.
Assistant of the Department of Dynamic Modeling and Biomedical Engineering A.V. Kurbako revealed the possibilities of a mini-factory to high school students. The guests saw all the processes of creating inventions: from the formation of an idea to the manufacture of mechanical boards and the coding of robotics.
Dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine and Medical Technologies Sergei Kireyev demonstrated to the visitors how the interactive anatomical table "Pirogov" works. This unique equipment makes it possible to view 3D models of body organs on a scale of 1:1. Sergey Ivanovich explained how to use this equipment in the study of clinical medicine.
High school students tried with interest to apply the simplest methods of working with the device. They independently recreated the human skeleton and learned that the anatomical table is able to reproduce the image of organs in the smallest detail.
In the Museum of Physical Devices and Lecture Demonstrations, schoolchildren were met by the head of the educational laboratory "Collection" Olga Danke. Olga Gennadievna showed the children physical experiments from the optics and magnetism section, explained the work of a 3D printer and other physical devices. High school students actively participated in conducting scientific experiments, asked questions on topics that fascinated them.
During the tour of the university, the students got acquainted with some relevant areas of training at SSU, were able to learn more about the equipment and conditions of students' education.
The ninth-grader Maxim Telkov shared his impressions after visiting SSU: "Saratov State University pleased me with its history, friendly teachers and, of course, excursions. The Museum of Physical Devices made a great impression, because I'm going to take physics this year and in the future I want to enter the Institute of Physics."
"Such excursions should be arranged more often for students so that they have an idea of what awaits them at the faculty or at the institute they choose," concluded Polina Andreeva from Balashov.
As part of the visiting program, high school students from district schools visited museums and scientific laboratories in other universities of Saratov.
The project is being implemented jointly with the Russian Movement of Children and Youth "Movement of the First". The spring stage of the "University Shifts" is held from February 13 to April 15.
