Young Teachers Discussed Best Professional Practices and Challenges

On March 24, a scientific and methodological workshop for young teachers of the region was held at Saratov University. This is the first meeting as part of the 10th Research-to-Education Festival entitled The Week of Pedagogical Education. The official opening of the large-scale event will take place on March 27, in the Assembly Hall, SSU Bldg. 10.

Young teachers met at the university to discuss current pedagogical practices and present successful school initiatives. During the conversation, they shared their experience at school and told what difficulties they had to face in the new environment. The conversation was attended by experienced university teachers who shared their knowledge with the modern pedagogical generation.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii noted the significant role of the scientific and educational festival for enriching the experience of young teachers in his address to the participants of the event: "The idea of holding a "Week of Pedagogical Education", which was proposed by Elena Genrikhovna Elina and her colleagues, turned out to be so lively and capable that every year it collects more and more guests".

Igor Gerikovich also noted that today the university has one of the highest competitions in the specialty of pedagogical education, and the number of places in the target areas of training is growing every year. "The profession of a teacher is once again beginning to take its place of honor in the life of society and gain its primordial authority," said I.G. Malinsky.

The head of priority projects and programs Elena Yelina, opening the workshop, spoke about the projects of Saratov University in the field of teacher education, recalled the CONSILIUM Support Center for Young Teachers, a Pedagogical classroom, Summer pedagogical networking and other initiatives implemented by the university within the framework of the stratproject "Teacher in the Educational Paradigm" of the Priority 2030 programme.

"The university always has something to say to young teachers. Most of you are our graduates. Today we have invited university teachers to a meeting who will take part in our discussion. It is especially valuable that we will be able to discuss important topics for young teachers, ask each other questions. We hope that such communication will be useful to all of us, because by the way you perceive the school, we will be able to understand how best to teach the modern generation of students," said E.G. Elina.

The workshop was organized on three topics relevant to young teachers: "Friends and strangers: a young teacher and a school team", "Straws of the digital world" and "Switching registers: languages and styles of modern school communication".

Moderators of the platform shared their experience: Olga Dmitriyeva, Chair of the Corporate Department of Russian Philology and Media Education, Marina Kabanova, senior lecturer of the same Department, Vachagan Cholakhyan, Professor of the Department of National History and Historiography, Roman Pavlenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Literary Studies and Journalism, the Institute of Philology and Journalism, and others.

At the beginning of the first foresight set, teachers of Russian language and literature V.V. Zinina (Gymnasium No. 1) and N.V. Svinareva (Boarding School No. 64) told about how young teachers can show their craving for science, creativity and self-realization within the walls of the school.

The participants of the meeting were asked to analyze the complex of different situations that arise in the work of a young teacher when communicating with parents and children. During the meeting, E.G. Elina shared her experience at school, remembered her first school mentor N.A. Kvashnina.

Teachers discussed the solution of conflict situations with children, tactics of communication with their colleagues and parents of students.

In the foresight set "Straws of the Digital World", Associate Professor of the Department of Literary Studies and Journalism, the Institute of Philology and Journalism, Roman Pavlenko and Chair of the Department of Information Systems and Educational Technologies Natalia Alexandrova, together with the participants of the meeting, reflected on how a teacher should be represented in the Internet space, discussed the practice of applying digital innovations in school wednesday.

Computer science teacher, Deputy director for educational work of school No. 5 Balashova D.A. Orlyuk told about the image of a teacher on the Internet and the different roles of a teacher at school. Denis Alexandrovich suggested three teams to make a pyramid of the qualities of a modern teacher. Each group talked about how a modern teacher should be, how he should be represented in the digital space and how a teacher should be in the XXI century. The participants came to the conclusion that a teacher needs to be a sociable mentor for his wards. The teacher's ability to keep up with the times and talk about his work in social networks is appreciated.

In continuation of the topic, the head of the Office of Priority Projects and Programmes Maria Yerokhina and the head of the SSU Office of Media Communications Julia Anikeyeva told about the social networks of the university, where you can learn about the life and current projects of the university. They paid special attention to information work with applicants and awarded a prize to the 500th subscriber of the Enroll in SSU telegram channel.

The director of the Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth named after O.P. Tabakov N.A. Mukovozov spoke about the creation of a school theater. Nikita Andreevich shared tips on the formation of cultural projects.

In the third foresight set, E.G. Elina, O.I. Dmitrieva and M.I. Kabanova dealt with questions about languages and styles of modern school communication.

"It is important for a teacher to be able to switch the speech register in different situations. In addition, the teacher must find an effective way to build a conversation with children. You cannot dominate your students, you need to be able to find a common language with them," said the moderator of the session O.I. Dmitrieva.

The teachers agreed that thanks to a trusting dialogue, it is possible to create a beneficial learning environment.

At the end of the meeting, the teacher-organizer of Gymnasium No. 1 S.A. Bulygina, who got a job at the school she graduated from, spoke. Sofya Andreevna told how working in her native walls helped her to acquire useful skills for a teacher. S.A. Bulygina was engaged in volunteer activities, organized school-wide events, implemented socially significant projects.

At the end of the meeting, everyone received a certificate of participation in the workshop.

Recall that the X Scientific and Educational Festival "Week of Pedagogical Education" will last until March 31. We invite you to the official opening on March 27 at 10:00 in the assembly hall of the X building of SSU. On the same day, 5 discussion platforms will work in the XI building of the university.
