On the eve of the Teacher's Day celebration, a photo of Deputy Head of the Office of Social Work, Senior Lecturer of the Corporate Department of Russian Philology and Media Education Marina Kabanova was put onto the Honour Board of Education Workers of Saratov Region at First Teacher Square.

A solemn ceremony honouring teachers, schoolchildren and students of Saratov Region was held at First Teacher Square. They were presented with certificates of putting their photos onto the Honour Board of Education Workers and the Board of Success of the Youth of Saratov Region.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education of Saratov Region Mikhail Orlov, as well as representatives of ministries and departments. Saratov State University was presented there by Rector Aleksei Chumachenko and Vice-Rector for Secondary Professional Education and Social Work Olga Nesterova. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii was invited to the ceremony as Chair of the Saratov Regional Branch of the Russian Pedagogical Society.

‘Symbolically, there is another board opposite the Teachers' Honour Board, where our outstanding students also receive signs of visible attention. In the Year of Teachers and Mentors, our colleagues from sports, culture, and youth policy also have gathered here. I would like to note that almost 40 thousand educators are engaged in teaching children in Saratov Region. Being a teacher means being the happiest person on earth, because you and I are fulfilling not only ourselves, but also our students! Have a good mood, success, and a strong family support!’, Mikhail Orlov said.

On behalf of the regional Pedagogical Society, Igor Malinski congratulated the audience on the upcoming holiday. ‘Dear colleagues and friends, I heartily congratulate you on Teachers’ Day, the best profession and the noblest vocation on earth. Stay healthy, happy, live in peace, and be prosperous. I hope that the tradition of being put onto the honour board will show us the best representatives of the teaching profession for a long time to come.’

Marina Kabanova has been working at the university for 19 years. As a student, she became the first winner of the pedagogical skills competition Step into the Profession and then its main organiser. Over the years, dozens of young talented teachers have participated in the All-Russian contest, and it has significantly expanded the geography of participants. During its existence (19 years), the project has become a real brand of the university.

Marina Kabanova teaches Russian language teaching methodology. Under her leadership, SSU students have repeatedly become prize-winners of both the Step into the Profession contest and the All-Russian competitions – Teachers of Russian Literature and Teachers of the New Generation.

Marina Kabanova works with talented schoolchildren at the Constellation regional summer school, leads the Young Philologists group, she is the chair of the jury of the municipal and regional stages of the All-Russian olympiad of schoolchildren in the Russian language. According to her, it was especially pleasant to see at the awarding ceremony the winner of the first regional pedagogical olympiad of schoolchildren Step into the Teaching Profession, of which she is a member of the jury, the children from the Young Philologists group, her students, teachers of Saratov schools, former contestants of Step into the Profession.

Today, Marina Kabanova is one of the leaders of the most important project of the university, the Centre for the Support of Young Teachers, a project that is implemented as part of the Priority 2030 university programme.

Expressing gratitude to the university administration for the opportunity to receive such an award, she said that she represented the work of a large team and regretted that it was impossible to make a collage of photos of mentors, colleagues, teachers, and students – everyone who had contributed to the opportunity to be awarded.
