SSU intellectuals’ team has again proven it is the best in the region. At the regional stage of “Intellectual Olympiade of the Volga Federal District” Saratov University students performed successfully at “What? Where? When?” game and won the right to represent Saratov Region on the district level.
SSU team consists of university league winners of student club intellectual games “Beehive” (with SSU Student and Graduate Student Conucil) – five students of the Institute of Philology and Journalism: Polina Vorobieva (captain), Andrey Romanov, Olga Neznaeva, Olga Soldunova, Elizaveta Morozova, and Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics master student Maksim Mushko.
The teams had 36 questions and only one minute to find an answer. SSU team showed the best result of 25 right answers. The participants think the game was very exciting and the questions – useful.
SSU students praised their competitors. “The game was great. We were neck-to-neck with teams that came second and third getting 24 and 23 points correspondingly. I know these people; we’ve met many times at different intellectual games”, said Olga Neznaeva. “Our team has performed at games like that many times; we meet often and there were no difficulties”.
Maksim Mushko found difficult the question about turned over binoculars that went like this: “When they belittled the black plague consequences, some scientists looked through it”.
Now the University team prepares to Olympiad finals that will take place in Samara in the end of March.
The project “Intellectual Olympiad of the Volga Federal District” is carried with support of Presidential Envoy in the Volga Federal District M.V. Babich. The project is initiated by Saratov participants of the Volga Federal District Youth Forum “iVolga 2015”.
According to Saratov Region Minister for Education M.A. Epifanov, intellectual Olympiad aims to support talented young people. “Our students are great people who have lots of new ideas in diverse areas of life. “Intellectual Olympiad of the Volga Federal District” is another platform for them to meet, discuss and share”.
