On April 25, there were summed up the results of the first regional pedagogical olympiad entitled Step into the Teaching Profession.

Head of Priority Projects and Programmes Elena Yelina summed up the results of the olympiad for teachers-to-be. ‘We have been preparing for the olympiad for many months: students were registered, we were explaining the rules. Schoolchildren who study in psychological and pedagogical grades in our region and schoolchildren who study in the SSU Pedagogical Classroom were admitted to this olympiad. In general, we are satisfied with the results of the olympiad. Many of the participants coped with difficult tasks that related to the history of pedagogy, the peculiarities of the culture of speech of modern teachers and the behaviour ethics in the digital world. But, of course, there were also those for whom these tasks turned out to be difficult.’

The chair of the olympiad jury, Dean of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education Tatyana Firsova explained why it was important for children who considered pedagogy to be their vocation to test their strength in the Olympiad. ‘Modern teachers are the people who constantly set certain points of development. And these points of development, the movement forward are olympiads, competitions of professional skills, and others. First of all, if you participate in the olympiad, you test yourself, it is a way out of the comfort zone and the beginning of a new path. Of course, due to the olympiad, its members understand their advantages and disadvantages at this stage, in which area of the teaching profession they can show themselves. The olympiad is the first step both into the profession and towards the profession."

The olympiad was organised SSU together with the Ministry of Education of Saratov Region, and it was held for the first time.
