On August 28, the 34th Constellation regional summer school for talented children finished. The closing ceremony was held at the Dubki children's recreation camp. The heads of the specialised teams summed up the results of the scientific activities of the team members and told the guests about the achievements of the shift.

The line-up was attended by SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii, the deans, the directors, and the teaching staff of the university. The event was also attended by Principal of Engineering Lyceum Natalia Sheremetyeva, Director of the Dubki camp Anastasia Kolmykova, teachers of Saratov schools, as well as prize-winners of olympiads and competitions of various levels.

This year, eleven specialised teams united 269 schoolchildren. 172 SSU teaching staff members were invited to conduct lectures and 25 olympiads in various subjects. 61 of them worked the entire shift at the summer camp, most of them are employees of Saratov State University.

SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko invited young talents to enroll in SSU and receive higher education in their region. ‘For the Ministry of Education of Saratov Region and for our university, this school is like a child who has lived for many years. I want the Constellation to continue. I am sure that it will be so, because this camp is important for various reasons, but, first of all, because the region and the country need initiative young people. We hope that you will choose our region and Saratov State University for further “star prosperity”.’ The rector wished them good luck and thanked the organisers of the shift, the counsellors, and the teaching staff.

Principal of Engineering Lyceum Natalia Sheremetyeva agreed with him. ‘Of course, the Constellation brand has become one of the main projects of cooperation with talented students in our region. In the Year of the Teachers and Mentors, I want to thank all the teaching staff who worked with the pupils.’ She expressed special gratitude for the cooperation to Saratov State University as a mentor of the entire pedagogical community of the school.

Head of the Galaxy64 regional centre for talented children Ella Zlobina addressed the guests and the teams with a welcoming speech. ‘The future of Russia is in its youth. The stability of our country depends only on their education and love for the Motherland. The Constellation is a unique place where two generations merge, because the teaching staff selflessly pass on their scientific knowledge to children.’

Traditionally, the election of the president of the shift was held, who would present the programme to the 35th anniversary summer school. The winning candidate this year became Daniil Gerasimov from the Linguists team (English), a pupil of Boarding Lyceum No. 64. On behalf of all the participants of the shift, he thanked the regional Ministry of Education and SSU for the curriculum, the Saratov Regional Institute of Education Development for giving a chance to work with professional equipment, as well as the shift supervisor Ella Zlobina and the senior counsellor Victoria Zinina for organising the school.

Eleventh graders who will no longer become summer school students will be able to return here in the future as counsellors or scientific supervisors and assistants. They gathered in the general photo of the School Chronicle.

Traditionally, schoolchildren who showed the best results at the olympics solemnly lowered the Russian and the Constellation flags.

The event continued in the assembly hall. The scientific supervisors awarded the prize-winners of the olympiads and the competitions held during the shift. In total, 211 personal certificates were awarded.
