Saratov State University sportsmen participated in university summer camps Spartakiade on August, 14. They competed with teams of SSTU, SSMU, SSEU and Law Academy.
The program included the following disciplines: five-a-side, badminton, streetball, volleyball, and combined GTO competition.
Among honoured guests were: Governor V.V. Radaev, regional government deputy chair M.V. Goremyko, Minister of Education M.A. Epifanova, university rectors and representatives. SSU was represented by Vice-rector for research work A.V. Stalmakhov and Vice-rector for secondary professional education and social work O.E. Nesterova.
At the opening ceremony, the Governor welcomed the guests and Spartakiade participants. He awarded university representatives for their contribution to student sport development. SSU football five-a-side teams coach O.V. Dergunov received the award.
GTO competition was the first part of the program. Sportsmen ran 100 m; then women did push-ups and crunches, men did pull-ups. The competition also included long jumps, races for 2000 and 3000 m, and suppling exercises. SSU team won this competition. In individual classifications, Alena Zhadaeva won silver, Aleksandr Shapenkov and Aleksandr Saganov won first and second places.
SSU representatives also won at badminton. Volleyball competition turned out to be quite dramatic. SSU team were leaders of their group but lost to Academy of Law representatives and didn’t to the final. Despite this little failure, the girls won the third place.
Women’s streetball and five-a-side teams also got bronze medals. Men’s streetball and volleyball teams won silver.
Spartakiade 2015 team results are: SSTU team came third; SSU team won the second place; SSAU is the first.
All winners got medals, certificates and cups.
