Today, Saratov State University has welcomed the first shift of pupils from new regions of the Russian Federation. For ten days, the children will have an active rest and an eventful curriculum as part of the project, which is supervised by the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science, the Russian Ministry of Education, and the University Shifts Russian Movement of Children and Youth.

SSU has joined the University Shifts pilot project and organised an educational shift for 48 pupils from the People’s Republic of Donetsk. It will be held at the university from September 26 to October 5.

Today, the pupils arrived in Saratov and settled in the Birch camp. On September 27, the opening ceremony of the shift will take place in the campus. The participants will meet with SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko. The guests of the event will be Head of the Youth Policy Committee of Saratov Region Angelina Belovitskaya and Head of the Movement of the First Russian Movement of Children and Youth of Saratov region Anna Popova.

The university has prepared many educational and leisure activities for the guests. The children will see Saratov, learn about the sights of the city, visit the SSU laboratories, centres, and classrooms. The programme includes visiting lectures by the leading university teaching staff, museums, theatres, and historical monuments. Experienced mentors, counsellors and teaching staff of the university will accompany the children at all stages, as well as help them in solving emerging issues.

An important aspect of the University Shifts project is the early career guidance of schoolchildren. The university notes that it is very important for their successful career in the future.

In addition to educational and excursion programmes, a lot of sports and recreational activities are planned for the children, as well as bright and memorable creative meetings – a meeting with the Hero of Labour of Russia, Honoured Teacher of Russia Lyudmila Kornilova, the Good Deed of the First socially useful project, and the Implement a Social Project game.

SSU is the only university in the region that trains teaching staff, so the shift of the profile camp was called The Teachers of the Future.
