1st-Year Student of ISPT – Silver Medal Winner of European Chess Championship
A 1st-year student of the Institute of Sports and Physical Training Anastasia Protopopova gained the silver medal among women at the European Chess Championship. The competition was held in Skopje in March 18-29.
In 11 rounds the athlete received 5,5 match points (2 victories, 7 draws, 2 losses). In Macedonia women played against men as well, and Anastasia had 1 victory, 7 draw, and 2 losses there.
The first among women became World Champion, Many-Time European and Russian Champion, Winner of the Women’s Russian Cup Aleksandra Goryachkina. Her result is 6,5 match points.
The European Championship in Skopje was held according to the Swiss rules. 358 sportsmen participated in the competition, and 48 chess players represented Russia.
