On April 11, cosmonauts, space aliens and flying machines created by university students could be seen on the student square of SSU. The competition program has become part of the "Space Relay", which has been held at the university since April 1. As part of the ceremony, the participants of the marathon – students of faculties, institutes and colleges - were also awarded.
"Tomorrow, April 12, 2023, marks the 62nd anniversary of the flight of the first man into space. And our compatriot Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin did it. The 108 minutes he spent in space opened the way for other space explorers. Surprisingly, the landing site of the first cosmonaut was very close to us, in the Engels district. The Park of Space Explorers has been functioning at this place for several years, where we will go tomorrow," Maria Chevtayeva, the host of the holiday, a student of the Institute of History and International Relations, addressed the students.
The guests and participants of the event were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko: "Today, after a long time, we finally met at our "Space Relay", which this year is taking place in an updated format. The history of cosmonautics is of particular importance for our region and university. The first cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin “got on the wing” in the Saratov region. Tomorrow, 100 activists of our university will go to the place of its landing, and each of you has a chance to become part of this team."
Anton Vladimirovich wished the students to connect their lives with space: "The cosmos is an all–encompassing matter that surrounds us everywhere. And I would like to start today's event with Gagarin's words: "Let's go."
Students of all educational departments demonstrated their flying machines to the audience: an airship, an airplane, a rickmobile, a rocket, a space saucer, a flying hut, a spaceship. Participants created air transport using paper, cardboard, foil, plastic fasteners.
Astronauts, aliens, space divas have become the real heroes of the holiday. Student councils showed how to see the space suits of the year 3000. Extraterrestrial, bright and sparkling images appeared on an improvised stage.
The creative reincarnations of students were evaluated by a jury consisting of Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko, the head of the Youth Policy Department Egor Sokolov, the head of the Youth Initiatives Development Department of the Department Sophia Tsyganova and the head of the Department of Patriotic Education and Preventive Work of the department Julia Ilyashenko.
