The professional re-training courses under the Digital Departments project have started at SSU. Saratov University as a participant of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership programme joined that project from the first day.
The staff of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies have developed the four professional re-training courses – Working Using Data: Applying Machine Learning Methods, Working Using Data: Programming in Python, Programming and Configuration of Corporate Information Systems, and Digital Transformation of Education. Due to these courses, senior undergraduates will be able to obtain additional qualifications in the IT profile while they will be getting their majors.
1,243 SSU undergraduates have been enrolled in the courses of the Digital Departments project. The classes began on September 12.
The Undergraduates of IT-courses of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, the Institute of Physics, the Faculty of Sociology, and the Faculty of Geography began to master end-to-end digital technologies aimed at applying machine learning methods in professional activities in order to economically gather useful information from data by its compilation, processing, and analysis. At the end of the training, the undergraduates will get the Data Analysis Specialist qualification.
The undergraduates of natural sciences not related to the IT-profile, namely of the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Geography, the Faculty of Geology, the Institute of Physics, as well as the undergraduates of the Institute of Philology and Journalism (Fundamental and Applied Linguistics) and the Faculty of Psychology began to master digital competencies in developing algorithms and programmes in Python, suitable for practical use at their work. At the end of the training, the undergraduates will also get the Data Analysis Specialist qualification.
The undergraduates of the Institute of History and International Relations, the Institute of Philology and Journalism, the Faculty of Sociology, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Law study information and analytical support for corporate information systems based on the 1C: Enterprise System. At the end of the training, the undergraduates will get the Specialist in Corporate Information Systems qualification.
The undergraduates of pedagogical courses of the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Chemistry, the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics focused on the study of applied issues of digital transformation of modern education. At the end of the training, the undergraduates will get the Data Analysis Specialist in Education qualification.
Due to the additional qualifications in the IT-profile SSU undergraduates will be more demanded and competitive in the modern labour market the digital-developing economy of Russia.
At the moment, undergraduates are taking an entrance comprehensive assessment on the platform of the assessment centre of Innopolis University. In total, the undergraduates will have three assessments: the entrance – in September, the complex – in December, and the final one – in May.
All the courses have been reviewed by leading IT-companies and regional educational institutions: Netcracker in Saratov, ProfSoft, Norilsk Satellite, Master Soft, the Saratov Regional Institute of Education Development, and Physics and Technology Lyceum No. 1. In addition, the courses have been approved by Innopolis University and ANO "Digital Economy", as well as by the Information and Communication Technologies industry working group chaired by Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Nikolai Yatselenko or by the Education industry working group chaired by Director of the Department of Digital Transformation and Big Data of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Andrei Gorobets.
The Digital Departments is part of the Development of Human Resources in IT-Industry federal project of the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation national programme. The project was initiated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education together with the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Communications in April 2022. The aim of the project is to provide priority economic sectors with highly qualified personnel with digital competencies.
