On the 110^th Anniversary Day of Saratov University, SSU Bldg. XI hosted the opening ceremony of the X Saratov Invention, Innovation, and Investment Display. Its goal was to demonstrate the manufacturing and research potential of the region and make research more attractive for investors.

The first to speak was Minister of Industry and Energy of the Saratov Region Andrei V. Arkhipov. The minister congratulated SSU on the anniversary and told the event members that he had graduated from Saratov University and added that he always remembered about his student years with pleasure.

Andrei Arkhipov underlined that innovation technology production was an integral part of the modern economy. Therefore, the meetings like that, in his opinion, were significant for the city, the region, and the country in general.

‘This display of research inventions is important in terms of the region innovation and technology potential. Our mutual goal is to produce the fundamental research results of Saratov scientists, and it will definitely boost our economy,’ said the minister.

SSU Rector Aleksei N. Chumachenko thanked the Ministry of Industry and Energy that Saratov University had been chosen as the place to organise the anniversary display.

‘Dear friends, I suppose you will agree that SSU has become the display platform for a reason, namely that the X Anniversary Display takes place in the university which celebrates its 110^th anniversary,’ marked Aleksei Chumachenko.

Also reminded the guests that the I Saratov Invention, Innovation, and Investment Display was held in SSU in 2005.

‘Then the first meeting was moderated by Saratov University, the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Saratov Region, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Sofit-Expo Exhibition Centre. We are glad that our mutual project has developed, and colleagues from other universities have joined us. Due to this project we can meet new people and implement researchers’ ideas which will improve the living standards in the region and the country,’ marked the rector.

At the end of his speech Aleksei Chumachenko expressed his gratitude to all the members and the guests for their congratulations and reminded that SSU celebrated its anniversary on 19 December.

‘The foundation stone laying ceremony of the campus took place 110 years ago. Then it was announced that Saratov University would be named after Emperor Nicholas II. When the last Emperor University was opened, it was widely celebrated. And those events are considered to be the start point of the SSU history.’

On behalf of the organisations which participated in the display delivered their speeches SSTU Rector of Saratov State Technical University Oleg A. Afonin, Appointed Rector of Saratov State Vavilov Agrarian University Dmitrii V. Solovyev, First Vice-Rector of Saratov State Medical University Andrei V. Yeryomin, Chair of the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of the Saratov Region Alexander P. Krenitskii.

At the display SSU researchers presented a few developments which can be used in manufacturing, medicine, and education. Thus, they showed the laser device for non-invasive transcranial therapy of glioblastomas and photoacoustic technologies for early tumour theranostics. Besides, the scientists commented that they had discovered fundamental sleep mechanisms, which can be used for breakthrough technologies in neuro rehabilitation medicine, and told the audience about the psychology and pedagogy methods to support families with children who have special education needs. In addition, the staff members of the university laboratories demonstrated the guests innovation filter nanofiber materials and details of diesel injection system with DLC-coating, and many others research exhibit items.

The display will last to 20 December.
