Master student of the Faculty of Law, Chair of the United Student Council, Commissioner for Students’ Rights at SSU Georgiy Bolotov became a winner of “Russian Volunteer 2016” contest in “Event Volunteer” nomination. The results of the federal contest were announced at the All-Russia Volunteers Forum’s closing ceremony in Saint Petersburg on October 26.
Finalists of the contest delivered presentation on “I am a Russian Volunteer” topic as well as their original projects. G. Bolotov suggested the idea of creating the chain of youth innovative centers dedicated to development of towns and countryside by engaging local young people in socioeconomic issues of their regions, business, education, culture, etc.
Apart from the jury, the Internet users voted for the contestants on the official website of the competition. G. Bolotov received 2409 public votes and left his rivals far behind.
Among the contestants were leaders, heads and activists of non-profit volunteer organizations and unions, as well as non-governmental organizations that aid volunteer activity from 85 regions of Russia. Among prize holders is another Saratov student, Irina Vorobyova from Saratov State Law Academy who won “Social Volunteering” nomination.
The expert committee consisted of the representatives of the contest organizers and governmental bodies, public figures, leaders of volunteer unions and non-governmental organizations, who chose 54 finalists.
Apart from that the best volunteers were announced in “Silver Volunteer” and “Young Volunteer” nominations.
“Russian Volunteer 2016” All-Russia Contest has being held from March 1 till October 20 by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and Russian Patriotic Center. Tits aim is to form volunteering culture in Russia and develop its main branches, e.g. social, medical, event, cultural, corporate and others. The contest has four rounds, the first and the second ones being held on city and regional levels. In the third round, May 1 – September 25, the finalists were selected, and the final round took place in Saint Petersburg on October 24-27.
