SSU presented its scientific innovations at the XIII Special Industrial Exhibition of equipment and technology “TechnoExpo.2014” on 9 September in the Sports Palace.

Saratov Region Government Deputy Chair P.V. Bolshedanov welcomed participants and guests of the exhibition highlighting its significance. He believes that participation of manufacturers, managers and engineers helps to solve effectively common industrial problems. “Professional opinion can help to define the agenda for the Russian Federation Ministry for Industry and Trade and other federal government bodies”, said P.V. Bolshedanov.

On behalf of State Duma Committee on Industry, Chair of the Expert Council on Russian machine tools manufacturing and engineering development V.V. Omelchenko addressed the party noticing that Saratov is one of the biggest industrial centers. He is sure that the VI Industrial Forum will foster effective communication between developers, suppliers and manufacturers and help Saratov Region development.

Our products are ready for mass production and much neede in the country. We see a demand for them and we sigh contract with big corporations. I believe 90% of today’s exhibits will find their way to consumers.”

An extended meeting of the Saratov Region Ministry for Industry and Energetics followed the Industrial Forum. The participants examined a project on industrial policy, reviewed the current work of regional companies and discussed the problem of import substitution. The Ministry has developed roadmap timeline to support projects in engineering and industrial design that includes research and innovation development, creation of engineering centers with scientific institutions, universities and private companies.

Foundation and development of engineering centers affiliated with universities will be subsidised by open public tenders.

SSU President L.Yu. Kossovich presented several SSU innovation centers: Research and Technology Center that specializes at PVD covers; Research and Technology Center “Micro- and Nano-electronics” that works in radioelectronics; Innovation Center “perspective Materials” that makes nonwoven fabric. These centers also work in engineering. They employ SSU students giving them theoretical knowledge as well as vocational training.

Participants of the meeting gave a high estimation to Saratov University perspectives. The Chair, S.M. Lisovski, considers those research and technology centers “a big step in the future”.
