“MediaGeneration-2009” award ceremony took place on November 27, 2009 in St. Petersburg.
Saratov State University web-site old.sgu.ru. won “The Best University Web-site” prize.
The competition was organized by the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science, MediaUnion and Human Technologies Company. More than 300 applications were submitted from all over Russia.
Award panel included representatives of the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science, famous journalists, and media leaders. They nominated Best University Newspaper, Best University Magazine, Best University Web-site, Best University Radio Station, Best University TV Channel, and Best Media content about student life. The applications were evaluated against the following criteria: professionalism, significance and originality.
54 finalists were invited to take part in the conference and award ceremony in St. Petersburg. Saratov University web-site and Institute of Philology and Journalism Digital Media laboratory were among them.
Chair of the St. Petersburg City Afministration Committee for Youth policy and Social organizations Interaction S.Yu. Grishin, MediaUnion Vice-President E.K. Zelinskaia, Deputy CEO of Human Technologies Company N.V. Malkina and others took part in the opening ceremony.
The guests met with famous journalists, sociologists, and entrepreneurs and visited student print media exhibition. The nominees presented their projects.
Saratov State University web-site old.sgu.ru competed with Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering web-site www.kgasu.ru, Volga Region State University of Service web-site www.tolgas.ru (Tolyatti), Griboedov Institute of International Law and Economics web-site www.iile.ru (Moscow), and Voronezh Institute of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs web-site www.vimvd.ru.
Saratov State University web-site old.sgu.ru won the Grand Prix and the first prize in its nomination. SSU representatives received crystal Sign of the winner and winner’s certificate signed by Minister of Education and Science A.A. Fursenko and President of MediaUnion V.A. Fadeev.
SSU media were also nominated as the Best University Radio Station. Institute of Philology and Journalism Digital Media laboratory won the second prize.
Present web-site old.sgu.ru has been working since December, 2008 and has a number of useful services, such as “Events guide”, “Questions and Answers”, “Online Interview” and other. Web-site traffic has multiplied 20 times. This month only the web-site has been visited 796590 times.
