Preparatory department for foreign citizens

 Nowadays the Russian language is the fourth most common in the world after English, Chinese and Spanish.

Russian is one of the six UN’s official languages.

It is spoken by about 260 million people in the CIS, USA, Canada, Israel, Germany, Poland, Turkey and other countries.

Approximately 150 million people consider Russian their native language.

In Russia, it is spoken by 130 million people, and for 110 million it is native language.

 As a foreign or second language Russian is spoken by 114 million people.

The work of the preparatory department for foreign citizens is a complex implementation of the threefold purpose:

* Communicative purpose: teaching Russian as a means of communication;

* Educational purpose: teaching Russian to study in Russia;

* Educational purpose: creation of Russia’s positive image through the formation of lingvo-cultural competence.

In accordance with the goals set, the following tasks are completed:

• Formation of linguistic competence;
• Formation of communicative competence in reading, listening, writing, speaking,
• Teaching of specialty language on the selected profile;
• Teaching of general education subjects in accordance with the selected profile;
• Facilitating the adaptation of foreign citizens in the new sociocultural and language environment;
• Introduction of foreign students to the national customs, traditions and realities of everyday life of the country studied language and to facilitate their adequate comprehension.

The Preparatory department for International students offers a wide range of courses of different levels, length, intensity, and professional specialization depending on student’s aims and objectives. You can build your own course according to your interests and needs.

You choose the education program, its duration and intensity, depending upon your needs and abilities.

Upon completion of training SSU certificate is issued.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to apply, please fill in the application form. Then send a scanned copy of your passport to issue the invitation for entry into Russia. This procedure should be done at least 2 months before the expected date of arrival at the address: udo@sgu.ru

In order to obtain visa you need to apply to the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country, providing invitation received from us, which is sent to your email address specified in the application. You can study and live in a Saratov State University’s dormitory only on account of visa, issued on the ground of our invitation.

Our university does not accept students, who come on a tourist or other visa.
