The ceremony of the Success youth award took place in the Russia – My History historical park. This year, the competition jury has chosen 25 people who will receive a prize of 20,000 roubles. The awarding ceremony is timed to the celebration of City Day.
The list of winners included three employees and four students of Saratov State University. A total of 144 nominees participated in the competition for the award.
Saratov Mayor Lada Mokrousova presented awards to those who showed great results in profession, arts, sports, research, and social projects.
‘This award is a special for the youth of our city, and it symbolises the fact that anything is possible and everyone can achieve their goal. Today, I am convinced once again that Saratov has wonderful, active, purposeful, and creative youth. Together, we represent our future, because this is a great creative potential of the city, its professionals. It is you who will take full responsibility for the future tomorrow,’ Lada Mokrousova addressed the winners of the award.
Chair of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology, the Faculty of Geography, SSU, Maxim Chervyakov won in the For outstanding achievements (unique projects) in environmental protection and safety nomination. He studies the radiation balance of the Earth, ecology and climate of the Arctic and Antarctic, has about 50 research papers, including those published in the journals of the Higher Attestation Commission and the databases of RSCI, Scopus, and Web of Science. He led research projects (under the RFBR grant, RGS grants), was a grant owner of PHOBOS Environmental Safety Foundation and Vladimir Potanin Foundation, as well as the winner of the UMNIK programme.
Maxim Chervyakov actively popularises science. He organizes research-to-education events for schoolchildren of Saratov and Saratov Region, where they learn about ecology and geography, as well as the features of the Arctic and Antarctic.
Associate Professor of the Department of Radiotechnology and Electrodynamics, the Institute of Physics, SSU, Mikhail Slepchenkov, the winner in the For outstanding achievements in education and science nomination, is the author of a PhD thesis and co-author of 62 research papers published in leading Russian and foreign scientific journals. Mikhail Slepchenkov has one patent for an invention and five certificates for his software.
Daniil Drozd, a postgraduate of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, the Institute of Chemistry, was awarded in the same nomination. He has written 27 articles and theses included in RSCI, co-authored three patents for various inventions, participated in conferences and seminars at the All-Russian and international levels. Daniil Drozd is taking an active part development of analytical and sensor systems based on fluorescent nanoparticles for the diagnosis of a wide range of diseases.
Head of the Media Centre, the Office of Media Communications, SSU, Deputy Director of the Centre for Advanced Technologies, the Institute of Philology and Journalism Larisa Suvorova was recognised the best in the For high achievements in literature and journalism nomination. She is one of the founders of the Sweet Milk student magazine, which has won more than 150 competitions at different levels for 11 years, executive director and co-author of the City of Three Fish grant project.
She teaches media literacy and the basics of media at the School of Journalism, the Institute of Philology and Journalism, as well as helps students win journalism competitions. She created an effective school editorial office of the Garnet magazine in Gymnasium No. 1, which has won media competitions more than 10 times.
‘My entire career path is connected with Saratov State University. Since 2009, I have been working here in the university media and the School of Journalism. Therefore, this Success intermediate is primarily associated with university people – my professors and mentors, colleagues, students. I am convinced that the atmosphere of studentship, the youth spirit of SSU sets up bright media projects, and inspires,’ Larisa Suvorova said.
As for our students, several of them became the best at once. Sergei Kulik, a student of the Faculty of Economics, the commander of the Staff of SSU Student Brigades, was awarded in the Best Volunteer of the Year the nomination. Sergei became the winner in the Miss and Mr. SSU – 2023 beauty, talent, and intelligence contest, and, in 2022, his photo was put onto the Honour Board of the best SSU students For his contribution to the development of the university student brigades. He actively participated in the organisation of the All-Russian School of First Aid for Student Brigades, the 1st Pro-Arts Regional Forum of Contemporary Arts, the 4th Forum of SSU Student Brigades, the forum of the Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates, the Help Train patriotic project, and the Letters to Defenders of the Fatherland project. Sergei took an active part in the #WEARETOGETHER headquarters during the pandemic and afterwards, collecting, sorting, loading, and sending humanitarian aid to residents of the PRD, PRL, and mobilized citizens.
Julia Ilyashenko, a graduate of the Faculty of Sociology, an employee of the Office of Youth Policy, became the best in the For contribution to the civic and patriotic education of the younger generation nomination. Julia heads the SSU Patriotic Club and the PRO100 All-Russian Student Forum. She has been a member of the expert council of the All-Russian Competition of Youth Projects of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs since 2022 and holds the post of Youth Minister of Education in the youth government of Saratov Region. Julia runs the Humanitarian Aid Headquarters for residents evacuated to Russia from the PRD and PRL and actively organises annual All-Russian, university, city, and interregional events.
In the For outstanding achievements in sports nomination, there was awarded Honoured Master of Sports in swimming (sports of the deaf), a member of the Russian national team among athletes with hearing disabilities, a student of the Institute of Sports and Physical Training Andrei Zhivayev. His photo was put onto the Honour Board of the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of Saratov Region and on the regional Honor Board.
The Success Award was established in 2015 to encourage talented young people of Saratov. It is assigned to young people aged 14 to 35 years who have achieved high results in profession, arts, sports, research, and social projects.
