Agreement Signed with Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources in Saratov and Penza Regions

In Bldg. 10, SSU, an agreement was signed between the university and the Interregional Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources in Saratov and Penza regions.

Rector of Saratov State University Alexei Chumachenko and Head of the Interregional Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Oleg Medvedev discussed the main cooperation advantages.

The SSU will develop research in environmental protection as part of the agreement. The introduction of additional points for applicants interested in promoting environmental education was also discussed at the meeting.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii introduced the heads of those departments who will participate in the implementation of cooperation. Dean of the Faculty of Geology Maxim Pimenov, Dean of the Faculty of Geography Vladimir Makarov, Dean of the Faculty of Biology Olga Yudakova, and Director of the Institute of Chemistry Irina Goryacheva were invited to the ceremony.

Alexei Chumachenko said that Saratov State University is interested in taking part in environmental education of the region population. ‘Everything related to nature management and nature protection is very close to Saratov State University. We have all the resources to help develop this area. The work of biologists, chemists, geologists, and geographers is important here. We will only be glad to have such an interaction.’

Oleg Medvedev thanked the SSU management for their trust and desire to work effectively together. ‘We are pleased that your university pays such great attention to environmental management and ecology. Due to our cooperation, talented children will be involved in environmental education. I hope we will see the results soon.’

The signing of the agreement will mark the beginning of an important interaction between the parties in terms of environmental safety of the region. One of the main conditions for cooperation was the commonality of strategic goals on ensuring favourable environment in the region.
