On June 15, the SSU staff presented projects on synchronising the parts of the university development programme as part of the Priority 2030 at the final project session of the Social Centre.

The scientists from the various faculties and institutes were offered different approaches to solving the tasks set by the expert in terms of basic and end-to-end processes, target model and partnership. The strategic projects were considered separately, which were presented according to the model proposed by the specialists of the Social Centere.

The participants of the Basic Processes group talked how education, research, and innovation should be arranged to ensure effective interaction with partners.

Head of the Office of Education Sergei Udalov highlighted the need to create a university-centric system that would ensure a continuous cycle of SSU participation at all stages of research – from knowledge generation to their sharing. It is important for the university to establish systematic interaction with employers. The SSU purpose was called the graduation of specialists with an expanded set of competencies.

Chair of the Department of Dynamic Modelling and Biomedical Engineering Anatolii Karavayev spoke about the peculiarities of the SSU cooperation with industrial partners of different types, which could be short-term and long-term, service and internal.

Deputy Director for Information Support, the Regional Scientific Library, Igor Krutikhin, Head of the Centre for Data Processing Igor Matershev, and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Language Teaching Methods Svetlana Shilova devoted their speech to external partnership and end-to-end processes of SSU. The participants of the group noted the importance of the transition to an open model of the university-partners cooperation – not only representatives of the industry, but also the state, society, and social partners.

End-to-end processes require the maximum use of the potential of the specialists of the faculties, to create a comfortable environment for the fulfilment of students, to connect digital tools, and to form a single regulation of cooperation with partners. The team came to the conclusion that SSU together with employers was able to contribute to the long-term career building of university graduates.

The following speeches were devoted to the strategic projects presented according to the model proposed by the experts of the Social Centre.

Deputy Head of the Office of Social Work, Senior Lecturer of the Corporate Department of Russian Philology and Media Education Marina Kabanova commented on the Teachers in the Educational Paradigm direction.

The fundamental idea of the stratproject is to involve teachers in all school subjects in the educational paradigm. Each teacher should understand new educational trends, principles of practice-oriented learning according to the new federal standards. The project is aimed not only at young school staff, but also at enrollees motivated to teach. In the future, the university is going to improve the quality of knowledge of enrolees of Saratov Region.

Director of the Institute of Chemistry Irina Goryacheva and Deputy Director of the Institute of Physics for Research, Head of the Smart Sleep Laboratory Andrei Slepnev in their speech touched upon the main aspects of three strategic projects.

The research is divided into two diverse sectors of fundamental and applied research. SSU actively cooperates with industry, which since last year has refocused on the research of Russian scientists. Thanks to the Priority 2030, the number of such partnerships will steadily increase in three years.

In addition, an important vector of SSU development is the support of fundamental projects, as well as work with small scientific groups. An indicator of the scientists’ work is that SSU interdisciplinary projects win large grants. Due to this, the scientists expand their research activities.

Meanwhile, an important aspect is still to develop a ready-made roadmap for each project from idea to production, which will allow the commercialisation of stratprojects in the future. Their task was called to achieve self-sufficiency and profitability.

Associate Professor of the Department of Materials Sciences, Technologies, and Quality Management Maria Lomova spoke about the target model and the cooperation with partners. The university is interested in maintaining the existing university management scheme. Its modernisation may consist in expanding the functions of the project office, establishing a specialised investment council, and other areas important for the functioning of stratprojects.

The experts of the Social Centre and the SSU scientists actively discussed the ideas and proposed concepts, asked questions.

At the end of the project session, the results were summed up with the participation of Rector Aleksei Chumachenko. Read more about this in our next article.
