During the gala concert, the Governor of the Saratov region, R.V. Busargin, was invited to the stage. "Yuri Gagarin's flight proved to the whole world that our people are able to stay ahead of time. When we work together for a common goal, nothing is impossible for us. Gagarin's feat determined the development of all mankind for decades to come. We are proud that the fate of Yuri Alekseevich is connected with Saratov," Roman Viktorovich said and congratulated the residents of the region on the holiday.
The event was attended by Colonel, pilot-cosmonaut of the Russian Federation, Hero of Russia Yuri Shargin. "I remember the time when I myself came here with my parents as a boy. I never thought I could become an astronaut. But it turned out! Here I am in front of you, you can see. The work is very hard, but very interesting," the cosmonaut shared his memories.
Head of the Museum of SSU History Larisa Shipilova, students Veronika Blagovestnaya and Elina Mustapayeva conducted a sightseeing tour of the park for students. They told about cosmonauts Yu.A. Gagarin, G.M. Titov, V.V. Tereshkova, P.R. Popovich, about designer S.P. Korolev and many other figures. The guides recalled the story of the first dogs in space, explained that the bus, which is one of the exhibits of the park, is assembled from 12 of the same buses that were used at the cosmodrome.
Head of the Museum of SSU History Larisa Shipilova told the audience how the excursions took place on the holiday: "We told our students a lot of information about cosmonauts-natives of Saratov. The more they know, the better, so today the participants of the festive trip learned not only about Yuri Gagarin, but also about other figures in this sphere and who of them was the first and in which direction. Of course, our students became not only guests of the event, but also organizers, guides."
Svetlana Zemtsova, a 1st-year student of the Institute of Arts, shared her impressions of the trip: "It's cool that today there is an open-air memorial and educational complex here, which is a point of attraction for guests and residents. It was interesting to take part in such a significant event. I think this day is special for our region. Happy holidays!".
The holiday ended with a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the foot of the monument to the first cosmonaut.
