Constellation Summer School for Talented Children Started

The 33rd season of the Constellation Regional Summer School for Talented children started.

This year, 220 schoolchildren from 75 educational institutions of Saratov Region have gathered at the venue. The school has 10 teams consisting of the schoolchildren who have achieved success in the study of scientific disciplines and high results in subject olympiads. All of them had a unique opportunity to listen to lectures of leading researchers of Saratov University for 10 days, get to know them personally, ask questions, and get new knowledge, invaluable experience, and unforgettable impressions.

SSU Acting Rector, Vice-Rector for Administrative Work and Human Resources Management Andrei Stalmakhov, Deputy Minister of Education of Saratov Region Irina Chinayeva, and Head of the Quantorium mobile technopark Aleksei Morev came to the camp for the opening of the season. The event was also attended by Acting Director of the Dubki Children's Recreational and Educational Camp Anastasia Kolmykova, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics Foundations, the person standing at the origins of the Constellation, Ella Zlobina.

The event that marked the opening of the 33rd season of the summer school for talented children of the region was the forming of the teams, the chanting of the mottos of each of them, and the raising of the flags of the Russian Federation and the Constellation.

Vice-Rector for Administrative Work and Human Resources Management Andrei Stalmakhov greeted the audience on behalf of SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko and highlighted the role of talented children, calling them the “stars” of Saratov region. ‘During these ten days, you will be able to feel what it is to be a student. In the Constellation summer school, the lessons are held like at university. You will have a wide range of them – lectures, workshops, academic competitions, and olympiads. This is your small step into science, and I think most of you will choose the scientific path. I sincerely wish you interesting and fruitful days. I hope you will find many new life-long friends,’ he said.

On behalf of Deputy Chair of the regional government, Minister of Education Mikhail Orlov and on her own behalf, Deputy Minister of Education Irina Chinayeva congratulated the schoolchildren on the opening of a new season. ‘Surely, this summer season, which has been gathering talented children of our region for the thirty-third time, will remain the favourite season, even when we open a year-round support centre for talented children. We plan to open it in 2023 and hope that such support for your talent will really help each of you to become great researchers, brilliant inventors, and just good and kind people who know how to be friends and appreciate their nearest and dearest.’

The teaching staff of the season included 14 graduates of the school of various years. The counsellors, who are also recent graduates of the Constellation, performed a rhythmic dance at the opening ceremony.

The hosts of the ceremony spoke about the history of the summer school. The very first team at the Constellation school consisted of chemists, it was created in 1989. Thanks to the long-term cooperation of the Ministry of Education of Saratov Region, SSU and the Education Committee, new directions are opening up, this year a German language team has appeared. In addition, the Rising Stars sixth city school for talented children is held at the camp.

The Constellation summer school will be open for ten days. The closing and awarding ceremonies of will take place on August 28.

The founders of the young talents season are the Ministry of Education of Saratov Region and Saratov University.
