On April 5, Nornickel – Shared Service Centre held an introductory meeting for SSU students who decided to take the professional retraining course titled The IT Support for the Economic and Financial Affairs of an Enterprise. The meeting was held in two directions: the IT group and the group of economists.
The regional director of the company in Saratov Kapitolina Zakharinskaya spoke in detail about the company and the student training course. ‘Norilsk Nickel is the world leader in the extraction, processing, and sale of non-ferrous metals.’
The students were shown a video presentation of the company, revealing all the advantages of working at Norilsk Nnickel-SSC. The IT group met with three experts in their sphere. Head of the Department of Economics of the Office for Support of SAP Systems Elizaveta Yelutina commented on the main business platform of the company. She explained to the students how the SAP programme works. ‘This programme contains all the main resources of the enterprise: from production to sales and management reporting. In this programme, any manager can see up-to-date information and make management decisions, according to the current state of affairs.’
Anna Glebova, a 2nd-year master degree student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, told the audience about the department where she works as well as about her personal achievements in the company. Anna was a participant in the first intake of the training programme, after which she became the lead specialist of the integration support group, now she is engaged in robotisation of business processes in the company.
Among the partners of Norilsk Nickel-SSC there are Russian companies – software developers. The meeting was attended by a representative of such a company – the Head of the System Analysis Department of Logstream LLC Evgenii Polkovnikov. He spoke about the projects and main activities of Logstream, as well as how students can join the company via a common internship programme with Nornickel-SSC.
For a group of economists, the head of a large service line for financial migration Elena Kondaurova commented on the task of the employees of that unit. ‘There are 450 people in our service line – these are accountants who keep records of the financial, economic, and production affairs of 56 companies that are part of Norilsk Nickel. These companies have different business lines of affairs: mining, processing, sales, technological maintenance of production sites,’ the head began her speech.
The head of the Personnel Operations service line Kristina Meshchaninova, head of personnel administration of enterprises of the Norilsk industrial region Anastasia Ivanova, and the head of the Payroll Management Alexander Ulrich told the students how accountants in a company work.
The head of the group for support of analytics and data visualisation systems Mikhail Airapetyan held a quiz for students titled Welcome to Norilsk Nickel-SSC Saratov. Those who scored the most points for the answers were awarded with gifts from the company.
The professional retraining course is provided by the company jointly with Saratov University. Students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, the Faculty of Economics, and the Institute of Physics are being trained there. The course is implemented with the financial support of Norilsk Nickel – Shared Service Centre. The students are not charged tuition fees.
