On November 30, 2020, Vadim Semenovich Anishchenko, Head of the Department of Radiophysics of the Saratov National Research State University named after N.G. Chernyshevsky, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (1995), Honorary Worker of Education of the Russian Federation (2019), laureate of the International Scientific Prize of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, died suddenly (Germany, 1999), Honorary Professor of SSU, founder of the SSU Scientific School on Nonlinear Dynamics.
V.S. Anishchenko is a world–class specialist in the field of statistical radiophysics, nonlinear dynamics of complex systems, dynamic chaos, synchronization of complex radiophysical systems. Under his leadership, 6 doctoral and 25 candidate dissertations were defended. He is the author of more than 450 highly cited scientific articles and more than 20 monographs published in the world's leading publishing houses. The collective headed by V.S. Anishchenko has been repeatedly recognized as the leading scientific and pedagogical collective of Russia. Anishchenko is one of the main organizers and director of the Scientific and Educational Center of SSU "Nonlinear Dynamics and Biophysics"; the founder of the International Institute of Nonlinear Dynamics at SSU (2003), which is attended by employees of the Department of Radiophysics and Nonlinear Dynamics of SSU and specialists from leading European universities. Under the leadership of V.S. Anishchenko, research was carried out annually on grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Vadim Semenovich Anishchenko was born on October 21, 1943 in Saratov in the family of a serviceman. His school years were spent first in Saratov, then in Pugachev, and he completed the 10th grade again in Saratov, graduating from school No. 3 with a gold medal. In 1961, he entered Saratov State University, from which he did not part until the end of his days.
In the fourth and fifth years, V.S. Anishchenko wrote his first scientific work, which was published in collaboration with his supervisor A.I. Shtyrov in the journal "Radio Engineering and Electronics" (1966). This publication served as the basis for the thesis of the future professor.
V.S. Anishchenko worked as an engineer at the SSU Institute of Mechanics and Physics. Here, in the scientific school created by Professor V.I. Kalinin, the formation of the scientific worldview and future scientific interests of V.S. Anishchenko continued. He acquired in-depth knowledge in the field of oscillation theory and circuit theory, theory of random processes and statistical radiophysics. In 1968, V.S. Anishchenko entered graduate school and graduated ahead of schedule in 1970, having defended his PhD thesis at SSU on the topic "Noise properties of electronic flows of microwave amplifiers of O-type" under the supervision of A.I. Shtyrov. On September 1, 1970, his work began as an assistant at his native department. He gave general courses of lectures on information theory, statistical radiophysics and a number of special courses, was deputy dean of the faculty.
In 1985-1986, V.S. Anishchenko published the first scientific monograph on dynamic chaos in Russia and one of the first in the world literature – "Stochastic oscillations in radiophysical systems". The book is based on the material of his doctoral dissertation "Mechanisms of development and properties of chaotic oscillations in radiophysical systems with a finite number of degrees of freedom" (1986). The appearance of this monograph became a notable event, in 1987 and 1989 the publishing house Teubner-Texte zur Phyzik translated it into English and published it.
V.S. Anishchenko's works are becoming well-known in Europe and the USA. Today, it can be stated with confidence that a new scientific direction of research, later called nonlinear dynamics, has been formed at the Department of Radiophysics of SSU. Professor V.S. Anishchenko is becoming one of the world leaders in this scientific direction. Confirmation is the invitation of V.S. Anishchenko to Germany, to the Humboldt University to give lectures on deterministic chaos in the spring semester of 1987.
Since 1988, V.S. Anishchenko has been the head of the Department of Radiophysics. By this time, he had created a working group of specialists on the dynamics of nonlinear systems and identified the main areas of research. In the spring of 1989, V.S. Anishchenko received the academic title of professor at the Department of Radiophysics. On the basis of the department, V.S. Anishchenko created a scientific laboratory of nonlinear dynamics, where his students and a new generation of graduate students and students work. V.S. Anishchenko has been an invited speaker and lecturer at universities in the USA and Germany more than once. In 1994-2000, V.S. Anishchenko is a laureate of the scientific scholarship of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation. The team headed by V.S. Anishchenko is becoming widely known among Russian and foreign scientists. Joint work with scientists from the Humboldt University of Berlin, the University of Potsdam (Germany), the Universities of Berkeley, St. Louis, San Diego and Boston (USA), universities of Great Britain, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland and the Republic of Korea are becoming regular.
V.S. Anishchenko was one of the active supporters of the introduction of a point-rating system for evaluating the work of teachers in SSU, in the development of which he was directly involved.
For his achievements in scientific and pedagogical activity, V.S. Anishchenko was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree (2004), honorary awards of the All-Russian, regional and university ranks. He was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of Saratov State University named after N.G. Chernyshevsky" (2012).
Scientific achievements and a brilliant teaching career do not exhaust the bright, unforgettable, multifaceted image of Vadim Semenovich. An outstanding pianist, a great polemicist and speaker, a remarkable storyteller, an enthusiastic summer resident and motorist, Vadim Semenovich will be remembered for his striking masculine beauty, refinement of manners, and the characteristic sound of pure Russian speech. He was loved by many generations of students, he was an indisputable authority for colleagues and students, he knew the value of friendship and highly valued his relatives and friends, his family.
Many whom he gifted with his selfless help, who were co-authors of his publications, to whom he addressed his scientific reflections, will remember him all their lives. And the university, whose service Vadim Semenovich considered his main purpose, will forever write his name into its glorious history.
The management and staff of the University express their deep condolences to the family and friends of Vadim Semenovich Anishchenko.
The farewell ceremony will be held behind closed doors. Due to the difficult epidemiological situation, only family members and relatives of the deceased will take part in the ceremony.
