The authors and publishers of the regional contest "The Best Books of 2019" were awarded, which was held within the framework of the international book fair "Volzhskaya Volna". Publications of Saratov University were awarded in two nominations.
SSU Publishing House was awarded in the nomination "The best Scientific and popular Scientific Publication" for the book "The History of Media Criticism in Russia: Essays and Materials" edited by Professor V.V. Prozorov, Head of the Department of General Literary Studies and Journalism. The collective monograph is devoted to a fundamentally new direction of humanitarianism – media criticism, the object of which were newspaper, magazine and Internet publications of the XIX, XX and XXI centuries. The authors include teachers and staff of the department, several chapters of the monograph were written with the participation of students. The history of Russian media criticism has been one of the main research topics of the Department of General Literary Studies and Journalism for several years. Among the reviewers of the book is the famous scholar–philologist B.F. Egorov, who gave a high assessment of the work of Saratov residents.
The literary and artistic book "Saratov University" was awarded in the nomination "Best design and design of the publication".: the twenty-first century" edited by Professor E.G. Elina. The authors of the sections were many teachers and staff of the university. The publication is rich in photo illustrations by G.N. Savkin. The design and layout were carried out by R.G. Savkin. The book reflects the dynamic and rich scientific, social and student life of the university over the past 20 years of the new century. In the publication, all the existing educational units of SSU are represented in persons, a chronicle of the main events of university life in the 21st century is placed, the main activities of SSU – science and education are outlined in a concise form. Many pages are devoted to the infrastructure of the university. A large section of the colorful edition includes materials related to the development of student self-government and volunteerism.
The organizer of the contest "The Best books of 2019" was the Ministry of Information and Press of the Saratov region. In total, 75 books, brochures and albums from 14 publishing houses and publishing organizations of the region, 11 authors of books participated in the competitive selection. Of these, only 17 editions reached the final.
