Saratov State University is at the Top-20 of the National university ranking of 2014-2015. SSU is successfully keeping its position among the leaders of higher educations in the country.
National university ranking is a joint project of news agency “Interfax” and radiostation “The Ekho Moskvy” founded in 2009 with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The ranking is based on six criteria: educational work (range of educational programs, staff training, graduates level, tuition fees), research work, social environment level (average salary, cooperation with schools and employers), international work, university brand (level of media work, public work, academic society response to university’s research results), and innovative work.
Information about university work was received from questionnaires, international data bases Scopus and Web of Science, university websites, Ministry of Education and Science portals, websites of foundations and organizations involved in development of science and higher education system in the country.
According to the results, SSU holds the 19th position in the ranking with 629 points out of 1000. the university is number 16 in education quality (788 points), number 27 in research work (259 points), number 51 in social environment (640 points), number 18 in international work (591 points), number 42 in ‘university brand’ category (454 points). SSU has got its best result – 12th position – in innovative work with 842 points.
National university ranking includes over 200 Russian universities, among them are 2 universities with a special status, 9 federal universities, 29 national research universities, 62 classic universities, 42 technical and technological universities, 12 economic universities, 21 agrarian universities, 12 architectural and construction universities, 8 pedagogical and linguistic universities, 10 medical universities and 1 non-state diversified university.
Lomonosov Moscow State University is number one at the ranking. Other Saratov universities included in the ranking are SSTU (106-107th position), SSMU (116-117th position) and SSAU (127-129th position).
The project aims at developing mechanisms and tools of independent evaluation system of Russian universities and their educational programs, improving competitiveness of Russian education system, scientific research and technology entrepreneurship.
