Today Prof. V.V. Prozorov, Professor in Philology, Honored Science Worker of Russian Federation, Chair of the Department of Literary Studies and Journalism, Scientific Advisor of the Institute of Philology and Journalism celebrates his 75th birthday. Saratov State University workers congratulate him on his jubilee and wish him health, wealth and further success in his creative work!
Prof. Prozorov's life has been closely linked to Saratov State University. In 1957 he entered SSU Faculty of Philology; in 1966 he defended his PhD thesis “Satirical writer’s creative mind characteristics: Creative process of Saltykov-Shchedrin” under the supervision of Prof. E.I. Pokusaev. In 1980 Prof. Prozorox got his terminal degree in Philology after defending the thesis “Reader’s issue and literary process in XIX-century Russia”.
In 1972, V.V. Prozorov started working at the Department of Russian Literature. In 1984, he founded a new Department of Literary Theory and Criticism, later - Department of Literary Studies and Journalism. He was the Dean of Faculty of Philology, later – Faculty of Philology and Journalism, and the Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism. In 2010 he started working as the Scientific Advisor of SSU Institute of Philology and Journalism.
Since January 1966, V.V. Prozorov has been sharing his knowledge with students and journalists. He gives lectures on ХVIII–XIX century Russian literature, holds seminars and special courses on works by Gogol, Saltykov-Shchedrin, history and theory of journalism, readers’ issues, etc. He also advises graduate students. He was the scientific advisor for V. Sh. Krivonos, E.G. Elina, K.M. Zakharov, A.N. Zorin and others.
People who know V.V. Prozorov value his talent, energy, liberality and his “care for words”. The University celebrates Prof. Prozorov’s jubilee by holding a ceremonial meeting today at 16:00 in Bldg. X.
