International academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions WEBOMETRICS was updated yesterday, February 11, 2014. SSU website has gained 359 positions and now holds the 777^th place in the world and the 4^th position among Russian universities. Last year SGU.RU was №7 in Russia and №1136 in the world.

Harvard University (USA) is the world leader, MIT (USA) holds the 2^nd place and Stanford University (USA) is №3. Lomonosov Moscow State University leads the Russian rating and holds 113^th place internationally; Saint  Petersburg State University comes 2^nd (506^th in the world rating); Novosibirsk State University holds the 3^rd place.

Saratov State University is the only university in the region whose website is in the top-10 of Russian university websites. SSTU’s website is №26 in Russia (2030 in the world), SSEI’s website - №91 (3853), SSMU’s website - №96 (3944), SSAU’s website - №277 (7417),  SSLA’s website - №442 (10165).

Since 2004 WEBOMETRICS rating has been done by Cybermetrics Lab that is part of national Information and Documentation Center (CINDOC), Spain. The laboratory specializes in universities and research institutions’ academic activity surveys (scientometrics).

2014 rating includes over 22000 websites of Higher Education Institutions from all over the world. The main criterion is Web Impact Factor that measures the number of inlinks and website’s visibility, activity and excellence.
