In the Assembly Hall, Bldg. X, the Rector of SSU Aleksei Chumachenko presented certificates of honours to the excellent students of Saratov University. The solemn ceremony was attended by the Senator of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia from Saratov Region Oleg Alekseyev. The event united the university administration, professors, students, and parents.

The ceremony was hosted by Angelica Davydova, a graduate of the Faculty of Pedagogical and Special Needs Education, and Aleksei Karev, a graduate of the Faculty of Law, a journalist of the Saratov State TV and Radio Company. At the beginning of the event, the guests listened to the anthem of the Russian Federation.

Rector Aleksei Chumachenko said parting words to the graduates. ‘Time flies by very fast: four years ago, we met at the ceremonial line-up in your first year. The pandemic has deprived us of many of our usual activities. There are volunteers among you who have helped elderly people in purchasing food and medicine during this period. The volunteers gathered in this hall who have collected and delivered humanitarian aid for refugees from Donbass. Today, there are both world champion athletes and winners of the Universiades here. Many of you have won the victory of the Saratov Region at the All-Russian Student Spring. It should also be noted those who are actively engaged in research. Every day, there are more and more opportunities for self-fulfilment and support from the state. Never be ready to rest. All the best to you, good luck!’

Senator from Saratov Region Oleg Alekseyev addressed to the graduates. ‘You are definitely to become successful and are obliged to glorify your alma mater, your native region, and our vast country. I wish you the most common things: be successful and healthy – this is the most important thing, be bold, so that there is a challenge, so that it is you who conquer the world. Happy holiday!’

Also, Oleg Alekseyev gave letters of appreciation from the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia for a great contribution to research and conscientious work. The letters were awarded to professors, young researchers, and holders of prestigious grants – Arsenii Ushakov, Asel Adilova, Mikhail Slepchenkov, Julia Svenskaya, and Maksim Chervyakov.

The senator presented the rector with a memorable gift – a silver-covered panel depicting the Federation Council building. ‘This is a sign of attention and respect to the renowned university, we will continue to be friends,’ he said.

Sergei Voronin, a member of the SSU Board of Trustees, who graduated from Saratov University in 1975, CEO of Bioamid Ltd., congratulated all those present at the holiday and wished success to the graduates. He noted that almost all the researchers of his company are graduates of Saratov University. Sergei Voronin said that in modern Russia it is not only prestigious to do research. Young scientists with a university degree can receive a considerate financial support. Sergei Voronin finished his speech with the ageless motto from Kaverin’s The Two Captains, ‘Fight and search, find and don’t give up!’

Aleksei Chumachenko awarded those who successfully combined excellent studies with an active university life: graduates who represented the university at scientific conferences and Olympiads, were volunteers and fighters of student brigades, were actively engaged in social work, and won sports competitions.

The graduates received honourary letters of the rector in various nominations: for active work education and research; for contribution to the development of social activities; for contribution to the development of student brigades; for active participation in cultural and creative activities; for high success in sports. In total, 26 people were awarded.

On behalf of the students, Daria Kukhareva, a graduate of the Faculty of Law, thanked the university. ‘We would like to thank the university for giving us knowledge, making us stronger. I would like to express some words of gratitude to our professors, deans, and directors of our faculties and institutes. Every day over the years, you have shared your knowledge and loved us endlessly. Many thanks to Aleksei Nikolaevich for the important and valuable parting words. On behalf of all graduates, I would like to say a big thank you to our parents, who have supported us all this time. All of us can proudly say that we are graduates of SSU.’

The concert was prepared by the members of the Student Club. The audience was pleased with the dancing of the ArT-mix ensemble of modern choreography led by Anatolii Timofeyev. The winner of the first degree of the 2022 Russian Student Spring Victoria Karavaikina showed an acrobatic item with luminous hoops. A graduate of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Language Teaching Methods Victoria Tsaturyan performed the inspiring song – Fly. During her performance, the hall was illuminated by the glow of flashlights that swayed to the beat of the music. The ceremony ended with a dynamic performance of the KNFam ensemble of street trends and modern choreography.

According to the established tradition, the graduates of the university took a solemn oath to be faithful to their native university, remember their professors, and use the gained knowledge for the benefit of the society.

The ceremony ended with a photo shoot on the background Bldg. X.
