Saratov State University – Participant of Jobs in Russia. Time of Opportunities All-Russian Fair
On April 12, on Cosmonautics Day, in Saratov, there started the regional stage of the All-Russian employment fair entitled Jobs in Russia. Time of Opportunities. This is the second time this large-scale event has been held in the region. This year, Russia – My History historical park has been chosen as its central site.
Large enterprises of electric aggregate engineering, R&D areas offered about 4,5 thousand vacancies in demand on the labour market. The members were the residents, job seekers, as well as university, college, and high school students of the region. 38 sites in the region and 380 employers are representing their vacancies at the fair.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Saratov State University was represented by Vice-Rector for Secondary Vocational Education and Social Work Olga Nesterova and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko. The fair was attended by the staff of the Central Admissions Committee, the SSU Career Centre, the Institute of Physics, Geology College, the College of Radioelectronics, and the Headquarters of Student Brigades.
Deputy Prime Minister of Saratov Region Sergei Yegorov congratulated the residents of Saratov on the opening of the fair. ‘Its purpose is to unite our applicants and employers, give them the opportunity to get acquainted, to be interested in those vacancies that are offered today at different sites. Here you can get advice on career guidance, legal issues, attend master classes, and communicate with leading experts in employment.’
The epic scope of the event was noted by Deputy Minister of Education of the region – Head of the Department for the Development of Vocational Education and Organisational Work Lyudmila Grigoryeva. ‘Yuri Gagarin began his professional career in Saratov, for his professional trajectory he chose Gagarin Pedagogical College, attended our aero club, and landed in Saratov Region. This successful story can serve as an example for each of us of how to use our opportunities in our homeland.’
Chair of the Board of the Saratov Regional Branch of the Russian Student Brigades, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work, SSU, Anton Golovchenko spoke about the role of the student brigades movement in the economic development of the state. ‘The student brigades of Saratov Region today are more than 3 thousand members who travel to the leading facilities of the region and the country in the summer. Young people work in a variety of fields – agriculture, construction, medicine, pedagogy, thereby filling the shortage of jobs at enterprises.’ He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Saratov Region for the opportunity to become a part of the event that unites students of the region.
The exposition of Saratov State University included three sites – a university-wide one, as well as separate exhibitions of the two SSU colleges. At the interactive stand of Saratov State University, everyone could find the information about the courses offered by SSU, see the scientific equipment, models of developments by young scientists, learn about the rules of the admission campaign, the RSB, and the vacancies available for students.
Innovative developments in medicine were shared by the staff of the Department of Dynamic Modelling and Biomedical Engineering, SSU. ‘Today, cardiovascular diseases occupy the first place in the world, therefore, the development of screening models capable of diagnosing the disease in a short time is the most relevant and in-demand area. The exhibition presents the devices developed by our students. For example, a sensor that registers the patient's breathing; an optical device that allows you to monitor blood vessel filling. This non-invasive device monitors the condition of the vascular system during the day.’
The prototypes of technical devices such as a drilling rig, chisel, and geodetic stereoscope used in the oil and gas industry were demonstrated by the representatives of Geology College. The activists of the movement introduced the work of the student teams to the participants of the fair.
An extruder for processing plastic into consumables for a 3D-printer, a DC-machine (a textbook with which it was possible to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy), as well as a Brovin generator, a magnetic field generator in which you can see the properties of gas, were presented at the College of Radioelectronics.
There, there are prioritised the vacancies in manufacturing, IT, science, the social sphere, and other key areas for the local labour market.
The organiser of the All-Russian Employment Fair is the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Russia, as well as regional employment centres with the participation of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, industry associations of employers and trade unions, educational organisations, and public associations.
