On 19 June in the Russia – My History Park there was opened the Young Manager School (YMS) of the Saratov Region. The project was initiated by Governor of the Saratov Region Valerii V. Radayev. The ceremony was attended by the Governor, regional ministers, rectors of universities-project participants, representatives of the Council of Municipal Structures of the Saratov Region, 2018 YMS graduates, and enrolees of this year.

Saratov University was represented by SSU Rector Aleksei N. Chumachenko, Director of the Institute of Continuing Professional Education Yurii G. Golub, and members of the academic staff who would teach the second intake of the school.

The Young Manager School of the Saratov Region project started in 2018. Three regional universities participated in its implementation – Saratov State University, the Povolzhsky Institute of Management named after P.A. Stolypin, and Saratov Socio-Economic Institute of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The main project goal is to prepare young managers with all the professional competences, personal skills, and creative potential necessary for managing posts. More than 200 people applied for the school, and only 100 of them were chosen by the school committee.

The SSU curriculum consisted of such modules as the State and Municipal Management and Psychological Technologies of Leadership and Management, which together lasted 250 hours. The school students took the modules in the Institute of Continuing Professional Education. The courses were taught by members of the academic staff of the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Sociology, and the Faculty of Law.

The Governor welcomed the new YMS students and the first graduates of the school.

‘Today the best representatives of the Saratov young generation have gathered here. You are creative, initiative, goal-oriented. You have advanced knowledge, and you are eager to make the life of Saratov citizens more comfortable, modern, and dynamic. I would like to thank your parents, teachers, and professors who have helped to develop all those skills,’ marked Valerii Radayev.

He underlined the importance of the project and commented on its first results. Thus, every third YMS graduate of the previous year changed their jobs, and every fourth graduate was promoted. Also a few projects were potentially included into the regional development plan, and some of them are already implemented.

‘The school is really demanded, and more people applied for it this year. New enrolees understood it passing the difficult admission exams. The committee chose the best applicants, and let it make you believe in your professional development. Bear in mind the finalists of the All-Russian Leaders of Russia and Manage! Contests – Alexander Rogachyev and Alyona Anufriyeva,’ noted the Governor.

According to Valerii Radayev, the current school students will not only join manager pool but will contribute to the implementation of national projects.

‘It is a very important issue for the coming six years, the most responsible and the most far-reaching one. And we will go hand in hand together,’ said the Governor.

The school students were addressed by Rector of Saratov University, Professor Aleksei Chumachenko.

‘Today a new intake of the Young Managers School of the Saratov Region will start studying. Due to this project talented young people will understand that they can find interesting jobs and become successful in our region. The advantage of the Young Manager School is its implementers, namely leading Russian universities – regional institutes of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics as well as Saratov State University. All the universities-participants have an opportunity to gain new experience, create new ideas, and work together with young and talented people. But what is more important is to develop our region. I am glad the project is implemented this year again, and our university takes part in it, too. As for Saratov University, I would like to mark its recent achievement – the university has strengthened its positions in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. It shows that we preserve our leadership in Russia and abroad proving high results in all spheres and the quality of classical education.’

‘Saratov University celebrates the 110th anniversary this year. It has always been one of the best universities in the Russian Federation, and the university still keeps its standards high,’ added the Governor.

At the opening ceremony speeches were delivered by regional young managers who had won All-Russian contests. The 2019 YMS graduates gave symbolic keys to the new school students. In their turn, the freshmen thanked the administration of the region and the universities and said that they would get the knowledge necessary for the region development.
