SSU Rector Alexei Chumachenko Congratulated LMSU Rector Victor Sadovnichii on Anniversary

Victor Sadovnichii, President of the Russian Rectors’ Union and Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, turned 85 on April 3. On behalf of the staff of Saratov State University, he was congratulated by SSU Rector Alexei Chumachenko.

Here is the full text of the congratulations.

‘Dear Victor Antonovich!

It is a great honour for the entire staff of Saratov State University to congratulate you on a wonderful anniversary. You are a legendary person, a person whose whole life is filled with service to science, higher education, and the upbringing of new generations of the Russian intelligentsia.

Your biography of a person not belonging to a higher class of society gives support and hope to young men and women living in the most remote parts of our country. Your destiny is a wonderful book about perseverance and faith, about the greatness of plans and confidence in their fulfilment, about the beauty of the human soul and the wealth of the heart.

Dear Victor Antonovich! We, the teaching and other staff of the university, consider ourselves to a large extent your students. Probably because you, a brilliant mathematician, gave an impetus to the development of various areas in natural sciences. You have repeatedly made in-depth presentations at scientific meetings of humanities scholars and demonstrated excellent knowledge of research methods in the humanities. You are dealing with the tasks of higher education and school education in the most serious way.

Today, it is you who continue the deeds of Lomonosov's “our first university” – with your encyclopaedic knowledge and ideas, with your perseverance in achieving goals, and finally, with your faith in an enlightened, intellectually wealthy, and prioritised Russia.

Being a truly great person, you remain democratic and open to people. You are interested in colleagues from different cities and countries, you care about the problems of each of the domestic universities. Thank you so much for your continued attention to Saratov State University. We are grateful to you for the trust you place in us by assigning important tasks via the Rectors’ Union or the Association of Russian Classical Universities.

On the days of your anniversary, dear Victor Antonovich, I wish you good health, optimism, and inexhaustible faith in the wonderful future of our Motherland.’
